Gonna try a target on the way to work, stalk the web at work, send my wife out while I'm at work (she's got a half day), and check a bunch of stores on the way home from work (did I mention work is getting in my way?)

Here's what I know of stock wise from my store (EB Games Canada)
This is not a representation of the entire country's stock, but only a single store's sample.
These numbers are after pre-orders have been filled.


We have 5 silver marios - only going up for sale on a first come, first served basis. (no pre-orders were taken on these.)
We have 1, 3 pack of splatoon
We have 8 Pac-man for sale, 2 Wario, 6 Inkling Boys (single) and 5 Inkling Girls (single)
We have 0 Charizard, 0 Ness, 0 Lucina and 0 Robin

A note on pre-orders: although we had well over 20 pre-orders on Robin and Lucina, only 2 people got theirs (we actually were told by nintendo that no one was to get any.)

I have been told by people working at wal-mart that they should have plenty of stock on Jigglypuff and Toys are Us employees said they should have 20-25 greninjas per store.

I got confirmation that 1/2 of my Walmart order has shipped, (so Charizard but NOT Wario), my Jigglypuff has shipped (to the wrong address), but nothing on Robin/Lucina/Pacman from BB or Ness from GS. Theoretically I should be OK with Greninja as I already waited in line to preorder it - but it seems many of the stores in my area are not getting an abundance of them, so who knows? Also, no word on my pre-order of Silver Mario yesterday from Target?

Overall this uncertainty is still unsettling and I guess I'm heading to Target before TRU to pick up an extra Jiggly just in case?

Yes, I have seen it. I'm glad what I still need starts in the evening(sliver Mario and robin) but if Gamestop has them then I have no need to go on amazon.:whew:

Sweet! Got everything I needed today (and then some assuming all the ones being shipped actually arrive in good condition). We even had one of the Nintendo reps who I used to work with swing by and when asked, she gave us some Smash pins (already had) but also these GORGEOUS Splatoon double-sided posters! Not sure where else these were available, but they are really stunning quality posters... I'll post some pics later!

So I got my Robin, Lucina, Ness, Pacman, and Jigglypuff all in yesterday. Its not the end of the world or anything, but sadly the Ness (probably the rarest of them all) seems like the glue on the front of the package was either reapplied or melted and then sealed again -- the plastic blister portion is all crooked and creates a weird slant when looking at the box, though there isn't any glue residue or peeling or anything, so I'm not really sure. Other than that though, everything came in fine!

Now just waiting on Wario from WM and will be back to owning them all save Villager. (Well, and the individual Inklings, I'm fine with the 3-pack).

Yeah, had it in my cart for a good few minutes and was fumbling around cuz I got a new credit card #, couldn't get it to work. Was trying to snag 'em for someone but couldn't. These are technically Skylanders I guess, but by twisting the bases you enable an amiibo mode, allowing you to use these as amiibos in compatible games. Skylanders SuperChargers comes with a Donkey Kong Starter Pack Bundle, and Skylanders Super Chargers Racing (Wii) comes with a Bowser Starter Pack Bundle.

Its also been confirmed that (at least at E3) they displayed some holographic cards, so we might be seeing the return of the Pokemon TCG phenomena with these... either way I've decided I do not need AC amiibo or the cards, so at least that'll be one less thing.

Also, I'm very unimpressed by the 8-bit mario amiibo. Why make them bigger? It just looks weird. :shrug:

I also saw photos and read on-line that the "ROB" amiibo is colored DIFFERENTLY for the Japanese Market (Famicom Red) and for the West (Nes Grey). so if your into variant collecting, you may want to order the Japan ROB amiibo as well.I think this is an amiibo FIRST..where there painted differently for different markets.

I feel the same way, except I can't shake this feeling that if I don't get them now, Nintendo is going to create something later that I'll want to use them for, and they'll be impossible to find by then.

Those cards are going to get ridiculously expensive to collect though. At 6 cards per pack (estimated at $5.00 right now), randomly assorted, with holos mixed in...ugh. They know what they are doing because games like MTG and Pokemon (an affiliate) have given them the perfect road map.

Did anyone happen to hear the Planet Money podcast about the Black Lotus card from MTG...it's actually a pretty good listen if you have a chance. But basically it talked about how Wizards of the Coast eventually figured out a smart way to print these card sets -- essentially by making some cards rare (but not so rare that the second hand price gets out of reach for most people). Pokemon are the exact same way, there are some rare cards, but most can be picked up second hand for about $25-$35. I see this as the future of Amiibo trading cards. They're already coming out in series, and I'm certain that they'll eventually have different sets for various IP. Get ready.

Oh good and here I was thinking I was worse off than all of y'all! I refuse to get the AC ones and I also refuse to get the Skylander ones and I don't do International variants either (at least as of yet). :)

They choose to do the latter, which was obviously the right choice in the long run since MTG has been around for a long time now and is still successful and popular today.

I think Nintendo is following this path with Amiibo too, Iwatasan. Let's face it, Nintendo has a lot of resources. If they wanted to mass produce them all it could be done in a heartbeat. Instead they are drip feeding the market with reprints of certain Amiibo. A little bit at a time until they reach that balance of supply and demand that keeps interest high. This isn't new for Nintendo, just look at the way they controlled supply of the Wii. It wasn't readily available in stores for almost a year. They know how to keep the hype going....and we love them for it.

Yeah I used to collect MTG. Had 3 or 4 complete sets of some of the rarer editions too! I remember finding a guy at a local flea market that I swear he took the common cards out of his packs and put the rare ones in. EVERY SINGLE weekend I would find 2-5 rare cards when I purchased a few of his packs. I never got a Black Lotus because Beta wasn't one of the editions I was trying to complete (though I DID have a complete "Revised" edition or "3rd Edition" set and nearly a complete "Dark" edition iirc). The total worth at THAT time was well over $10,000 for all my cards.

I don't necessarily mind the extremely rare cards being in a set like that as long as there's a CHANCE that a reasonable collector could get one (unlike say, the Kid Icarus cards that NOA never sold to the regular public or the one rare cards that was only available in one place at one night and as a tournament prize). Fooey on that! :beee:

Dark Pit, ZSS, Dr.Mario, Palutena, Ganondorf, Yoshi WW Bundle, Blue Yoshi, Pink Yoshi... to name a few.

I canceled my UK preorders for them because I only collect NA versions, but it seems that most of the "alerts" and things that I was a part of before have since died out and haven't been able to get very many things lately. These just better not go live when I'm away next month cuz this is my favorite wave out of all so far! (Gannon + ZSS + Dark Pit are from 3 of my favorite Nintendo franchises!)

I was easily able to walk into a store and get them all locally, with the exception of the Yoshi bundle that I paid for a month ago or so. The big stores that usually sell these are receiving 3 to 10 units each. The yoshis are pretty much sold out for now but I believe more stores will put these available on release date. I managed to grab one of each except for the green yoshi because that on's included with the bundle.

From my past experience over here, I realize that this last wave has a bigger number of units available compared to the previous waves, but still not enough for everyone I believe.

My thoughts exactly, but they seemed to say on Reddit that they will have enough stock to be more like a "charizard" or something like that that lasts 15 minutes or so.

I don't think they understand that with Robin and Lucina, there were significantly less people trying to get them (I imagine) because all the other retailers had already sold theirs.

With Palutena, its the ONLY way people can get one anywhere in the US. Period.

I managed to get all the new amiibo today: Olimar, Bowser Jr. and Dr. Mario. It wasn't that hard, there were almost 10 of each available in a single store. They are deffinitely producing larger numbers of these last runs. There were also many reprints: Bowser from SM, Lucario, Jigglypuff, Marth, Pacman etc.

My grandmother died this week and I'll be at her funeral that entire evening and spending time with my family when this goes live. I can't really see myself interrupting any of that to hurry up an refresh over and over on my cellphone hoping that 1) i have cell reception there and 2) i'm able to secure one.

Amazon stated they would not be doing pre-orders for the latest wave of Amiibo figures here in the U.S, opting instead to release them on release date for everyone sometime during "normal business hours" they said so that could be perceived as anytime between 9am and 5pm pacific time.

Mario maker was released today overhere and there are quite a few numbers of amiibo blundles. I didn't see the regular game, just the lower tier bundle with artbook etc. The individual amiibo seems scarce though. There seem to be more bundles than standalone amiibo. Still no sight of the modern coloured mario but I heard that one comes out in October.
