European Assassin's Creed III CEs Revealed

Jason G wrote in to inform us of details of three confirmed European CE releases for Assassin's Creed III.

The Freedom Edition, includes Alex Ross' SteelBook (similar in design to the North American pre-order bonus), "George Washington's Notebook", a statue of "Connor" and some DLC content all wrapped up in a good sized decorative box.

The Join or Die Edition seems to be a slightly smaller package which replace the statue with a "Join or Die" medallion. It also lacks the SteelBook and some of the DLC Content.

Finally there will be a Special Edition which seems to come in a standard game case with alternative cover art and the inclusion of an "exclusive" piece of single player DLC Content "A Dangerous Secret". Those who complete this DLC will also unlock the "Flintlock Musket" weapon.

The Freedom Edition has an RRP of £80 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and an RRP of £60 for PC, the Join or Die Edition has an RRP of £65 for PS3 and Xbox 360 and an RRP of £50 for PC. All of these will be released on October 31st of this year. No word yet on any CE releases for North America, if past Assassin's Creed games are any indication the North American releases will be completely different than the European releases.... No, it definitely won't be available in North American retail store, Ubisoft have a bigger plan for that region ;) You'll just have to wait a little longer to find out :)

@Matrix: You say that like you "know" something the rest of us don't. Aren't you living in Australia? How would you know Ubisoft has something "bigger" planned for our region? AC1, AC:B and AC:R (that's 3 out of 4 in the series) had dramatically inferior collector or limited editions for North America. While Europe got these AMAZING editions that were bigger, rarer and much more awesome. Revelations had NOTHING but a standard game case with custom inlay artwork. The only exception was AC2. NA got a real nice tin box that held the gamestop exclusive figure in w/ game and artbook. These facts would indicate Ubisoft has NOTHING planned for our North American region...

If your looking for the Freedom Edition it is a GameStop.co.uk exclusive, it costs £80 (same as Ubishop) and I don't think you have to pay up front at least I haven't seen anything that suggests that anyway

I don't think you have to pay in advance for pre orders, and at the moment it's the only option next to the Ubisoft shop to order this version for gamers not in the UK as gamestop.co.uk still don't ship abroad.

Hey all,just was told something by a manager of a gamestore,which will remain nameless,that some of you may find an interesting idea. He himself has ordered both Assassins Creed Freedom Edition & Join or Die Editions for when they are released. What he is then going to do is keep the Freedom Edition complete & only keep the contents of the Join or Die edition except for the game. Hes then going to return just the game from the Join or Die edition. Because the game will be a new release he will get back near what would be the cost of just the game & have the bonus of the Join or Die Edition contents/box for roughly AU$20-$30. To me this is in some ways seems a little dodgy but its also completely legit & within the companies policies. Something worth considering for those who want the Join or Die Edition just for the medal. I dont think this will apply to all gamestores,only those with a trade in policy.

If they do offer an official trade back, the first week would be a vantage time to do it, and that will always just consist of trading the game only. Just hope they do it for this game then.

Also, normally, when trading in games, the CE contents won't give you anymore value than just the standard game. I've been told of stories where Customer A comes in to trade a CE, Store Assistance evaluates it, strips it down to just the game and says they'll give you $xx for the game but nothing for the CE. Customer A goes back home gameless but with CE contents :D Awww yeah!

All good,i kinda figure its worth doing. I mean the standard games AU$90 & the Join or Die is AU$108,the minimum they would have to give you back within the first week is probaly AU$75-$80. But,at least you will have the medalion,the collectors box,any dlc & a spare copy of the diary. On top of that you can play the game before you return it & they wont give you any more or less for it. You probably couldnt buy these extra bits for the AU$20-$30 you dont get back.
Another thought is later on when the game drops in price dramatically you could buy a copy to put back in the Join or Die edition making it complete again:)

Oh well it all depends whether the standard game case will have a label behind 'not to be sold separately' and how nit picky the staff are with that label.. Also if it comes in a standard game case or steelbook with game inside.. If that's the case staff might subtract the value of contents

Currently only the Ubishop has the freedom edition in the UK. Not sure about other countries. I can't see it anywhere in Germany and France either, aprt from Ubishop.

The Do or Die edition can be purchased from stores that export such as as *cough* zavvi.

Yes I think you're right, I had the same issue with not wanting to be charged until dispatch, realised after I preordered yesterday that they were going to charge me as they add the Win7 voucher just so they can class the order as a download and then charge immediately.

Requested to cancel and got cancel confirmation today and thanks to Masoom I will be preodering again sometime today. I think the Gamestop site has a glitch because when you actually go through the order, they too are selling at £79.99. So unless you can't get the discount code to work, I think it boils down to how well Ubisoft will package the product on dispatch vs Gamestops methods (for those in UK that is).

I used a credit card and payment was immediate. I reordered the next day with the 10% discount and payment was immediate too. I then called ubisoft to cancel my first order and i must say, I was very impressed with the service. Well done ubisoft!

You should be able to get book for that price easily and if they selling separate you can get box included for free if you ask.

The Codex edition however it not quite as in demand, mainly thanks to ubishop selling loads off recently for super cheap

Never had any custom charges from zavvi to the US,..your better off ordering from germany amazon www.amazon.de ...there packaging is wayyyyyy better then zavvi..unless your an opener and u don't necassarily care about dents/dings/scratches.

you'll need to take into consideration that you'll be receiving a German version! Although the in-game language can be set to English, the cover of the game packaging and game case will be littered in deutsch text.

Yeah, exactly.Their FAQ claims they only charge you at the time of dispatch, but I've heard from several people already that they've took the money from their account immediately. Actually Ubi Shop is being totally dishonest. I pre-ordered from there yesterday and, despite it being quite clear from the FAQ that they do not charge until just before shipping, I was charged immediately on debit card.

This thing about them being able to do it because the discount voucher is downloadeable is bullshit too. Nowhere on the pre-order info is that made clear in any shape or form.

If they are so desperate to get my money now then they can fuck right off because I'm about to cancel in 15 minutes when the phone lines open. I mean, do any games publishers do business properly these days ??

I can DEFINITELY confirm that they charge instantly if you choose to pay via PayPal! I just pre-ordered the Freedom Edition from them, via PayPal, and they took it straight away! Six months in advance!

I only pre-ordered from them because I don't trust GameStop UK now after the Mass Effect debacle (selling European imports in place of UK stock), and chose PayPal because my debit card will have expired by then

Well i hope its being announced Monday, but its not the one thats currently going into liquidation ( and still has $75 of my dollars on a voucher i can't use... bastards ) My money is on it being another silly inflatable that will look very nice next to my inflatable omniblade... because i think the only other option i see being feasible would be a Nerf foam version.

The American CE's have been announced? where was i for that?
They didn't say how much, but it will be a percentage, not a round dollar amount, but it would need to be AT LEAST $30 so that the gauntlets balances out the price of the "exclusive" edition they are stocking.

Not sure this discount would be worth it...

Not exactly official yet. The full content are yet to be announced. So far confirmed is the flag + statue. For 120 I bet there wil be more stuff going. Or else it will be even worst then the brotherhood CEs

Nothing exciting. The figure is from EU edition, they sell far better belts with AC logo on Ubiworkshop, dlc is the same too. Meh, just the Ubiworkshop bundle with Encyclopedia and comics and Freedom Edition for me I think.

But the cover of the box is cool.

<----- Holding out hope that the States get two editions and that THIS is actually the smaller edition. It's not July 4th yet. Is this edition to wet our appetite? Because Ubi stated "the setting of AC3 pretty much requires that we deliver a staggeringly amazing Special Edition for North America." If this is their staggerly amazing edition I have to laugh. Here's hoping this is the "Join or Die" edition for US and the bigger "freedom" type edition is yet to be announced. . . maybe on the 4th? Who knows?

It's priced at $119 so around the price of Freedom Edition and it has a statue, which are usually one of the possible selling points of any "bigger" CE's, so I really wouldnt call it "the "Join or Die" edition for US", maybe if it was only the flag and the belt...
