As you can see, I literally meant it when I said this would be the biggest addition to my collection, lol. Dragonborn is huge! He comes with a sword that he holds in his left hand. I have it, but I didn't put it on the statue when I took the picture because it needs to be screwed in and I didn't have the tool handy.

Guys I am by no means rich. Most of the things I posted in that last update I got either for free, or paid very little for. I got really lucky with the Dragonborn statue. I found it on Craigslist of all places; and I paid only a few hundred bucks. I got a great price. No way I would've paid more than that for it. The guy wanted $500, but I talked him down to $300; and to tell you all the truth, I only bought it because I figured I couldn't lose money by buying it. I figured worse comes to worse, I sell it and make back my money easily or probably even make a little profit. Not that I intend on selling it of course.

Statue is nice, i have seen a few of these and from other games for sale. A few issues though are, room, and you need to able to pick-up since postage would be difficult and risky.

Thank you all so much for the nice words! You know I couldn't believe when I saw the statue on Craigslist. The second I saw it, I called the guy and booked it to his place before someone beat me to it. I had to drive quite a bit to get to his place, but it was not that big a deal really; just the gas money that I had to spend put a hurting on my wallet.

It has a bunch of scuffs and scrapes that the guy never told me about, plus he didn't tell me that he smokes either. The statue smelled pretty bad because of that.

Taking all of that in to account, plus the fact that I had to drive far, I managed to talk him down on the price. I already cleaned it up and it doesn't even smell anymore, and the imperfections aren't that big a deal to me considering the price and uniqueness of the item.

And for those that asked, the statue was issued by Bethesda to promote the game. I've heard that they made between 100 and 200 of them, but I'm not sure exactly how many they made.

They were sent mainly to retailers, and they also sent some to journalists. I know there's one at the offices of Kotaku, Game Informer, and IGN for instance; and there's one at Bethesda's office as well.

It's just really cool and since I couldn't ever get my hands on the Brotherhood of Steel statue, this one will do just fine. :P

And here is what I consider a new grail in my collection. This is the Cook & Becker Tali giclee. It's signed and limited to 50 pieces. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and size of the piece. The colors are lush and vibrant and every little detail is perfectly rendered. I wish everyone would print artwork in the giclee format. It's truly the only way to go. Pictures simply don't do Tali justice. You just have to see it in person to appreciate the quality and majesty of this awesome print.

I was super lucky to pull the trigger on Tali when I did, 'cause it just sold out within the last couple of days. If there is one thing that disappoints me though, it's the fact that the signatures on the print are super faint. You can barely see them. I have no idea how they allowed these faint signatures to pass qc.

Tali was about $350, which is a lot of money. However, I feel relatively confident that it will hold it's value; and if I had to sell it, I wouldn't take a dime less than twice what I paid for it. I'm sure someone would eventually pay it too. Not that I would sell it of course.

The smaller lithograph version of this same image is undoubtedly one of the most desirable of all the ME lithos. It used to routinely sell for right around $350 give or take. Sometimes it would even go for $400. Now admittedly, prices have come down a bit; but it still sells for $250 to $300 regularly.

Since the smaller Tali lithograph still sells for $250 to $300 (and since I've always wanted this image), I figured I'd pay a little more and get the massive giclee.

The fact that this Tali giclee version has already sold out, tells me that interest in this image is still high. None of the other ME Cook & Becker prints have sold out. Tali went fast.

I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture, but the print is actually huge. I shudder to think what it would cost to have framed. I'd imagine it would easily be $450 to $500 at Michael's; and Michael's is pretty damn inexpensive. I'm sure any other frame shop would want way more than $450.

I don't have any more space on my walls either. So the cost to frame it and the lack of space to display the print means that Tali will be rolled up in a tube for a very long time in all likelihood. Most of my prints are stored in tubes and storage folios for these very reasons. I would still love to get Tali framed one day though.

New poster! I snapped this one up the second it became available. It's a Shenmue II Japanese promo poster. Shenmue promo posters are incredibly tough to come by. I've only ever seen a handful of Shenmue promo posters for sale.

I narrowly missed buying the Japanese promo poster for the original Shenmue, but I did scoop up the American version (It's posted in the first page of this thread) of that poster. It's not as nice as the Japanese version, but it's still really nice, and it's rare as well.

Actually, these days, almost anything Shenmue-related is hot. Prices keep going up and up.

I got this poster at a reasonable price too. I'm sure it's worth at least twice what I paid for it. The seller had two of these for sale and listed his second poster right after he sold me mine. They both sold almost instantly. The second one sold for a whole lot more than the first one too.

I recently picked up my first ever Saturn. I got it at a thrift store for $25, which I think is a good deal.
I'd been looking for one for quite some time; so when I found it for a good price, I was very happy.

The only place that I know of that received those promo lapel pin kits is Gamestop USA.
They've been out for quite some time now. Maybe a month or more. At this point, I'd wager most of those kits have been parted out or outright destroyed.

There aren't many pins included in the kit. I haven't counted them all from my complete kit, but I'd guess that there are maybe 3 total complete sets of pins (including the pins that are displayed in the kit.)

Since there aren't many pins included, I'm guessing the pins went fast; which means that the kits themselves went fast. About 3 weeks ago I saw one of these pin cases in the trash at my local Gamestop. :( Seeing that pissed me off and made me cry inside a little.

Edit: I just counted the pins from my kit, and there are indeed only 3 sets of pins (4 pins per set.) So you can see how they would go fast. Figure one set going to staff, and two sets going to customers. They may have all been taken within a day or two.

Another quick update; this time with the Portal 2 Turret Exclusive statue by Gaming Heads. I ordered this bad boy a long time ago, and after paying it off not too long ago, it arrived earlier today.

Quick impressions: It's absolutely beautiful. Being that it's made of polystone, the overall quality of the piece is really nice. Lots of fine detail and the paint is really nice too--especially the glossy white paint.

The glossy base is super nice. I thought I'd hate the glossy, mirror-like finish on the base, but I don't have it at all. It looks great.

On the downside, this thing is just too damn fragile. I can easily see myself breaking this thing at some point. The legs appear to be especially fragile. The statue only very gingerly fits in to place on it's base. It doesn't feel secure enough on the base to me.

I can see it tipping over at some point. Like if I were to turn the bass up on my surround sound system, for instance, I can see the statue tipping over from the thuds of the bass.

The white side panels only slide in to place with magnets. I can see those panels falling off at some point too.

The glossy base-though super nice-will surely be a scratch-magnet. In fact, it came with plenty of fine scratches on it already.

My statue also isn't perfectly straight. It has a slight lean or tilt; so it just looks slightly off or slightly crooked, if you get my meaning.

The light is OK, but it could be a tad bit brighter

Lastly, the sound. There's really no other way to put it: It sucks. It's really low and heavily muffled. It's just terrible. Really disappointed with that.

Plenty of stuffed toys out there have crystal clear sound features; I don't know why this expensive collectible couldn't do at least as good.

Other than that though, it's really nice. None of my complaints would stop me from buying this again. Well, I probably wouldn't buy the exclusive, since it's so bad; but the regular version would be a buy for sure.

The overall look of the piece is too nice to pass up.

I forgot to mention that my ICO helmet (the one with the horns) has gone to a better place.

It was so brittle (just from being so old and made of thin plastic), that one of the horns broke off. It's possible that the previous owner didn't take care of the helmet well enough, and that's what caused the horns to be so brittle;but I can't say for sure. The ICO sticker on the front of the helmet had fallen off and I was gonna place it back on. When I grabbed the helmet, the horn snapped right off. :(

I can't bring myself to throw it away. :( ICO stuff is so hard to come by.

I've never posted here before but must say I've been admiring your collection for quite a while now. So many rare and sought after things. Very nice!

My portal turret arrived yesterday but I haven't had the chance to open it yet. I'm not thrilled about the idea of it being easily scratched or not wanting to stand up straight. I may have to keep it in the box for a while until I can figure out where I want to display it. Not to mention the amount of shelf space this thing looks like its going to require. That also sucks about the sound being of poor quality. I always have high hopes for anything with lights and sound.

This has been a great morning! I today met a friendly member from these very forums. He very graciously drove all the way to my home from a relatively long distance; and we did a trade that worked out very well for both of us.

Now I am thrilled to have received the following items from him because I had indeed been looking to add these items to my collection for quite some time now.

Here's my morning haul:

Fallout Survival Edition and Vault Boy puppet from PAX 2008:

I couldn't be happier to add these Fallout items to my collection. The puppet is so hard to get these days. I think the puppets only pop up for sale a few times per year.

On top of these awesome Fallout items, I also picked up this amazing Little Big Planet miniature billboard sign. Now I say miniature, but make no mistake about it, this is a relatively big piece. It's quite impressive in person. It commands attention. Heck, even the guy's wife hesitated to part with it; and she's not even a gamer/collector, I don't think. It's just a charming piece and I'm so happy to have it.

I really can't express just how happy I am. If it weren't for CE.org, I never would have met this gentleman and this trade would have never happened! I gotta say it was also quite nice to meet someone in person that shares the same passion for collecting.

Yeah same here, love this site and being around like minded people who understand "our" passion for collecting.

My family didn't understand and still don't but they have seen me buy and re-sell a couple things for a profit so they know there can be an investment property to it and that i somewhat know what i am doing ;)

Don't have a lot of friends anymore, and the huge group of friends I used to have were more interested in doing drugs then anything else... man, I don't miss them (or the old me for that matter). I got only 3 real friends now and they all love gaming so they think PK's and promos are pretty cool.

It's quite a lovely book with plenty of nice artwork. I've only seen 3 other copies of this book. I really don't know how many of these exist, but considering that they were only available at one specific event, there can't possibly be very many out there; though I'm sure that if people knew what they had, more would surface.

Considering it's scarcity and nice quality, I do feel very lucky to have it.

This is a set of GTA IV mock wanted posters. Truth be told, I have my doubts as to whether they're authentic.
The seller swears they're legit, but something tells me they may be fakes.
I suspect they may not be real because I happen to own another one of these same posters that I know for a fact is legit;
and that legit poster, I think, is slightly different to this complete set of posters. The problem is that I have absolutely no idea where my legit poster is, so I can't compare them.
I know the legit poster is around here in my house somewhere, but it would probably take me a million years to find it. I'm gonna look for it though.

This has been a great morning! I today met a friendly member from these very forums. He very graciously drove all the way to my home from a relatively long distance; and we did a trade that worked out very well for both of us.

Now I am thrilled to have received the following items from him because I had indeed been looking to add these items to my collection for quite some time now.

Here's my morning haul:

I couldn't be happier to add these Fallout items to my collection. The puppet is so hard to get these days. I think the puppets only pop up for sale a few times per year.

On top of these awesome Fallout items, I also picked up this amazing Little Big Planet miniature billboard sign. Now I say miniature, but make no mistake about it, this is a relatively big piece. It's quite impressive in person. It commands attention. Heck, even the guy's wife hesitated to part with it; and she's not even a gamer/collector, I don't think. It's just a charming piece and I'm so happy to have it.

I really can't express just how happy I am. If it weren't for CE.org, I never would have met this gentleman and this trade would have never happened! I gotta say it was also quite nice to meet someone in person that shares the same passion for collecting.

Like I said before, none of my closest friends or family members are collectors or even gamers. So it's nice to know that there are people out there that share the same love of collecting.

He was the first person that looked at my Murder of Crows bottle and Sander Cohen statue and was as blown away by them as I am. :D

Glad to meet you as well... and I have to say I still would love to have those two :D and I am in the same boat as you are, none of my friends/family quite understand the collecting aspect of what I do or are as impressed about the pieces.

Yes, this is the oversize KOTOR movie-style poster. It was given only to media people and to few lucky fans. This is the only example that I'd ever seen available, and when I had a chance to get it, I jumped on it. Now it was not easy for me to get it; in fact, it took a looong time before I actually got it. There was a lot of back and forth with the seller before he finally caved and let me have it. Now sadly, the poster is not in good condition, but the thing is that I actually got it for practically free in the end; so I'm not really too upset with the condition. The seller thought that the poster was in great shape, but when he actually went to look at it, he realized that it was damaged; at which point he contacted me and told me that I could have it for free! He knew I would appreciate the poster so he was happy to let me have it!

I plan on having it restored at some point to bring it back to its former glory. As it happens, since picking this poster up, 2 others have popped up for sale, but they're not really the same. The 2 that are available now are smaller versions; and one of those 2 was folded so it has nasty permanent creases. But still, I just thought it was kind of funny that after years of waiting for this poster to come up for sale, not just 1, but 3 different posters showed up finally all around the same time.

There are people that restore posters. It's pretty wild and amazing actually.

There's a guy here in Chicago that restores posters. He's, from what I understand, an awesome artist. I'm probably gonna have him do the work on the poster. You can see some examples of his work here:

I lucked out and managed to get my hands on this awesome AC IV pirate flag kit!
The chest looks great, and the flag is very nice quality; it's huge too!

Here, I took a pic comparing the sizes of both flags from the last two flag kits.
As you can see, the pirate flag is considerably bigger than the colonial flag.

Platfus, I see a lot of people saying the chest isn't worth it. True, the mask is just a cheap "dollar store" quality item; and the chest itself is made of unimpressive plastic as well.
I, nevertheless, still like the chest package overall, and I'm glad I bought it. I think the chest would look nice on a shelf in any game room. Plus the exclusive in-game DLC items included in the package more than make up for the chest package shortcomings. You get so many rare weapons, items, and even a rare skin. Plus you get all 3 DLC items x3 (one identical set on each gaming platform.) Not sure if you know just how valuable the DLC codes are. You could sell two of the 3 DLC sets and easily cover the entire cost of the loot chest package; which means that you'd essentially be getting a free diamond loot chest package! (Assuming you get the diamond loot chest at the original retail price of course) ...but I wouldn't know anything about that. :blush:

This next one isn't really game-related, but I am so happy to have it, that I figured I'd share it. I met one of my all time favorite comic artists this past weekend at a con, and I managed to win a sketch commission from him! Now, he almost never does sketches at cons; and he certainly never does sketches of this quality at cons. So for him to actually do one like this is certainly special. He did this Lady Loki drawing for me. Hope you all like it too:

In fact, that one time that I missed it, was the only other time that'd I'd personally ever seen it for sale (the one I now own is the only other one I've ever seen for sale.)

It had come up at least one or two other times before that, from what I hear; but again, I'd only seen it available that one time.

Needless to say, I was super bummed because I missed it! But, I did get over it eventually. It really did help to know that it went to a fellow CE.org collector! I knew that it would be well appreciated!

The moment another one of these came up, you bet your butt I snatched it up faster than you can say collector!

This is an Australia exclusive Assassin's Creed disc storage case that can hold up to 4 discs. From what I understand, it was available exclusively at JB Hi-Fi (an Australian retailer) as a pre-order bonus item. The piece resembles a hardcover book and features 8 unique art pieces inside (including 2 double spreads), and the 2 art pieces on the front and back covers of the hardcover binding.

Considering how seldom these come up for sale, I think it's reasonable to assume that they're relatively scarce. Maybe they didn't have many pre-orders there, and trashed the majority of these? Who knows.

I'm just glad to finally have it!

Ingmar, I do indeed mean you! You beat me to the last one! It was up for sale for quite a while before I decided to finally buy it. By then though, you had beaten me to it! I was so mad at myself for letting it go,lol.

I'm sure it might sell for more than what we paid. I think we simply got lucky on the price!

As for the bottles, they're both amazing. If I had to choose one though, I'd probably pick the MoC bottle as my favorite.
The MoC bottle has amazing presence. It looks stunning sitting on my game shelf.

It was on the Australian eBay site as a "buy it now" item. It was pretty cheap too. Seller didn't know what he had. Believe me, I was lucky to get it! This is because I know for a fact that at least 2 or 3 other AC collectors saw it and tried to buy it at about the same time that I bought it. I was just the quickest draw this time! :D

OK guys, I have a quick little update. Not much here; only one piece in fact.
However, this is quite a special addition to my collection, and it's certainly worthy of a standalone post in this thread.

As you can see, this is the rare Borderlands 2 press kit. This is easily one of the neatest pieces of Borderlands memorabilia in existence. The best part of the kit is easily the "big box"-style PC box. The art and overall retro style of the package make for a killer display piece.

From what I understand, the floppies actually contain a playable 16-bit game on it called "The Border Lands"! So maybe that's the coolest part of the kit? lol

I do believe that the game is playable for free online; so anyone, anywhere, at any time can actually play it. You don't need this press kit to enjoy the game. :)

I do believe that this kit is a true rarity. I only know of a handful of these that exist; though I'm sure that many,many more were produced. I can't imagine, however, that very many of these were actually made. I would imagine that maybe only a few hundred were made. Though, again, I really have no way of knowing how many were actually made.

I think they were made exclusively for the European media outlets; though I haven't researched this well enough to know whether this is indeed the case. I'm sure it's possible for other markets like Australia to have received these kits.

Now sadly, I do believe that my kit is missing a few bits and pieces. think it's missing a couple floppies and possibly a foldout poster. But, again, given how rare this kit is, I'm still happy with what I have. I wouldn't hesitate to call it one of the best pieces in my collection; and it's for sure one of the best pieces in my little Borderlands collection.

I also wanted to show this neat little detail on the package. There's a typical barcode on the side of the box as you can see in the picture below:

Its how my contact got it...so i could not tell for sure if its complete or not. The only thing i can say that the promo and the usb came seperate i think (same for the plushie Redmag has now)
I never bothered to check...but i guess the floppys are identical games or you need them all to install?

Finally, the 25th anniversary Mega Man statue. I was debating on whether to actually pick this one up. I'm sure glad I choose to get it. It's a great looking little figure. The quality is pretty good too. It had some glue (presumably from production) all over it, but it cleaned up perfectly well. :

I also forgot to mention that I found my authentic GTA IV wanted poster and I compared it to the ones that I bought on eBay recently. Well, it's just like I thought. The ones that I bought from eBay are different than the real one that I have. The authentic example is of superior overall quality. On the authentic poster, the balcks are deeper, details are way sharper, the whole image is bigger, and the paper is slightly smaller. It looks to me like the seller simply photocopied the genuine posters. That's what they look like; photocopies. Of course, I have no way to prove that they're fake. All I can say with certainty, is that they're of inferior quality and are probably not real. I find it hard to believe that Rockstar would put out this poor a poster. For all I know though, they made these in all kinds of sizes and quality...
