I just got mine from tnt 30 mins ago, ordered several copies, all came in individual boxes. Got 1 Battered box, badly battered, all torn cover of the box, luckily I'm going to keep that for myself to open! The chest Is very cheaply made plastic, the certificate just says a number, not out of a set ammount. I was really suprised to see it came with extra DLC. But for what was advertised I'm a bit disappointed because it seemed alot more then there actually is. Steelbook is indeed xbox size, But still It's all good :)

I wAs actually going back to the shop efore readin this page.. When I opened mine, the game is not in the steelbook but instead in the normal ps3 plastic case came sealed with a slipcover.. This is au ps3 version.. Is it supposed to be like that?

What I do find odd is that it looks like there's plenty of space for a bit saying 'out of x' but they've just not printed it. (If you look at the spacing between the little leaves at the number.)

First post sorry so hi all anyhow. Been lurking round here for a while but have been quite incensed by the quality about this Ce I felt I'd join and add to the discussion.

Received my ULCE from Game today, overjoyed as I'm off on holiday this evening so knew it was safe and sound in my house and not stuck at a ParcelForce depot for 2 weeks. To my horror though when I opened it up I found that the push button was missing entirely from the chest. Not broken or unattached, missing. After a chat with Game trying to resolve this I got told that it's a strong possiblity that they might be getting more of these in stock sometime soon and they still have copies of the PC version in stock.

Now I know no one has so far said exactly how 'limited' this editon was going to be but over on the Gearbox forums in a tread for peeps with missing items they are posting there COA No.'s. Mines on the 360 and is #20,387 but there is someone who has #21,471 with a US copy. Now you can't tell me that they decided to randomly assign numbers to each region as some of you have EU copies with lower COA no.s than me and higher than someone from the US. I'd hazard a guess there's close to 200,000 of these kicking about.

I've still not even been able to bring myself to finish Duke Nukem.

The one thing I was properly surprised about with this one is the bobblehead, I think it feels really good compared to thinking it would be like the plastic Fallout 3 one.
I think it's metal, possibly some kind of ceramic but definitely with a bit of weight whatever it is.

I have just got mine back out the box - right way up, slid it around on the floor and the other side is the right way up - list it as 'rare' on ebay and flog it for £1k!!! LOL LOL! Unique :)

i think this will be a hot christmas item,..so they will keep churning them out as long as retailers state there's stong demand for them...especially after the game got very very good reviews across the board..this loot edition will get milked for all it's worth..there will be a 3rd wave release,..i think in the near future to fulfill demand.

Must admit I'm not sure what to make of this edition. The centrepiece, the chest, looks a bit cheap and plasticky up close but looks really cool from a distance. The artbook is of acceptable quality and the bobblehead is nice.

I suppose the question is . . .worth a hundred quid?? Well . . .direct comparisons would be the God of War Ultimate Edn and the Uncharted 3 Chest but i have neither of those so i can't compare directly but, from the unboxings i've seen, this holds up fairly well in the content department.

Also the Sonic Generations CE was the same price for a lot less . . .so . . .looking at stuff like the Risen 2 CE and the Prototype 2 Blackwatch at £70 for a LOT LOT less - this seems like a decent buy to me.

And the game ??. . .haven't a fuckin' clue :ghey:

I don't know what you guys expected from this edition. I cancelled my pre-order as soon as I saw that generic chinese plastic box, that's unacceptable, it looks like a cheap toy. Missing parts, bobbleheads, no cloth maps, weird COAs... They clearly made this edition with the word "cheap" in mind, and we still overhyped this like a holy grail.

you know what we expected? I'm speaking for my self but... As with any collectors edition i was expecting that if some one puts a lot of effort into a game that the presentation of a CE would be exceptional... But i know that the companies now don't care about this... But some developers do... I develop games and i know that when and if i hit it big... If the game is great put it in a great box and that will make an awesome game...

Must admit I'm not sure what to make of this edition. The centrepiece, the chest, looks a bit cheap and plasticky up close but looks really cool from a distance. The artbook is of acceptable quality and the bobblehead is nice.

The Loot Chest edition comes with a cloth map and the Vault Hunter edition with a paper map. Looks like a monkey went bananas on the assembly line and fucked up everything, what a shitty QA :rotf:

When this was announced, I didn't feel like I should expect very high quality with the Loot Chest nor anything else. I knew what I was in for with the seemingly not-too pricey price compared to previous CE such as the PAL God of War 3 UCE, any Call of Duty Prestige and even the lowly Duke Nukem crap. For what we paid for, I think the "quality" of the contents is about right, just as well there were "bonus" DLC's included on the last minute! :sleep:

If compared to slightly higher priced CE's such as Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition or Sonic Generation CE, first day buyers paid for good quality on those with little flaws. It wasn't as if we paid for a $400-$500 for the Loot Chest being made of metallic or any other properly good material?! I think the Prestige Editions for CoD games were well over-price for cheaper plastics!

The only slight disappointment I've had with my Loot Chest was the Steelbook being a G1 size for the PAL PS3 edition when another region got proper sizes for their! :hammer:

Yeah, I think the AC series were exceptional for their prices, no real disappointments there apart from Brotherhood PAL for me, it was basically the same plastic box as Pandora's Box for God of War 3 :S
I'd love the Gears of War 3 CE, it's of really good quality for $200 when released, too bad I don't really collect Xbox CE's.

Risen 2's Keg wasn't the greatest wood quality you could get, but for the relatively cheap price you pay, there was also a lot of contents included...I still need to get me a copy though.

Within my collection, the GT5 Signature Edition would have to be the most prestigious quality I own for the initial price you had ot spend on it when it was released! Getting is cheaper was a bargain imo. They didn't use cheaper materials for it and the model car was made by real model car makers, leather wallet that I actually use to hold what little money I can put in it, nicely designed keyring, exceptional art book and guidance book plus the metal box itself was painted with shiny silky black stuff! :bananayes:

I'm only referring to very expensive CE's here, there are many other cheaper CE's with great value for what you pay for :clap:

I think GAME is the cheapest around that you could get the Vault Edition for at the moment, but I'd wait around for more stocks to "appear" and perhaps cheaper!? I may or may not do that....though I'm content with my Loot.

Just realised another difference with the PAL and NTSC versions, the US got a full box to contain the two black cardboard boxes whereas the PAL versions virtually just got a "slip cover" for the boxes! :blackeye:

No, because there has been a second run on the edition, making it not truly limited

also, it does not come in shrinkwap so it isn't really sealed

US editions will be or arable because the box is better, pal ones just come in a giant o ring and the two halves aren't sealed together

Well when i bought the Two Worlds 2 CE, i received a very very damaged and dodgy CE box (Full of pen markings and all) and they replaced the box, figure, and also sent me some extra content (Original OST, Letter openning knife (shapped like a sword), and some more swag.

So if a small company did this to a costumer, i expect a big company to help out the costumer who received the CE like this.

because demand meant the initial plan of 53k would be way short of demand and so therefore limit the profit to be made...so some bright spark decided the US should get the whole allocation of 53K 'real' CEs and PAL regions would get bent over and shafted until stores had to sell stock at £50 a pop

I agree, quality seems to get a little worse with each new release, regardless of who publishes it. Look at where we are now versus some of the things we used to get (e.g. compare the construction of the Big Daddy Figure that came with the Limited Edition of BioShock vs. the figures that came with inFamous 2 or Uncharted 3 (of course even here you have to ignore the issue of the poorly packaged Big Daddy). Speaking of which...poorly constructed packaging has always been an issue, and doesn't seem to be improving...

Totally agree! I'm satisfied if CE contains quality artbook (A4 format is the best), artworks/artcards/lithographs, physical OST disc, some special digipack/steelbook and special themed packaging (Codex Edition, Risen 2 Keg Edition, Diablo 3 CE, Heroes VI CE, The Witcher CE, Fable 3 CE, Fallout 3 CE....). I also really love if there are also map (cloth at best) or some nice figurine. That's why I love RPG's CE's and RPG's at general. Because they meet these requirements by far the best. :)

There have been some major CEs both this and last year but i always have the nagging feeling that there's some issue or other that's kinda taking the joy out of it these days.

Obviously the lies about the "limited" nature of the Loot Chest is overshadowing things here just as it did with the MGS HD LE. Then there are all the online distribution issues and pricing concerns and quality worries and so forth and so on.

I just can't shake the nagging suspicion that I'm being continually fucked over by corporate arseholes who couldn't give a tuppeny fuck about "collectors" per se. Sort of riles me when i think of all the cash i've put in . . .and not just me, of course.

Which leads me to wonder if i won't be secretly glad when the digital download age finally dawns on us. Certainly I'd be happier if all the "special" editions were just like the Dark Souls LE - nice artbook, "making of" DVD and a CD soundtrack . . .all for £40. I'd be happier with that than all of the dicking around with fucking god-awful figurines and backpacks and all that sundry shite.

I got my ULC yesterday and I'm really pleased with it. Everything is here, nothing is missing, my certificate number is 4833. Chest looked really crapy and cheapy on unboxing videos but I must admit I love the painting details. Still it's cheap plastic but nicely painted. :)

Hi Tony,

I received my French ULCE's last Friday, 1 PS3 for me and 1 Xbox for my brother.
All the contents are in English, for both PS3 and Xbox : Certificate, Sir Hammerlock notebook, Artbook, etc. So, I guess it's the same for PC version, all in English too.
Only the DLC cards and the games are localized for Europe. The DLC card are in English + French + Spanish + German + Italian + Dutch.
The back of the game box is written in French, English and Dutch, if I remember well.
In game, the language depends on the language settings on your PS3. For instance, my PS3 is in English-US, so my games are displayed in English.

as stated - lot's of returns as the profit not worth it as this CE has been completely downgraded.

US is the only true CE however @ 53K and with a cheap alternative that's not really all that worthwhile.

I'm so glad the Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition didn't suffer like this...altho it has similar in reverse with the US getting the countless CE whereas EU got the extremely rare EE (was it ever confirmed how many?). Also it was nice that the editions were different enough to get both versions (IMO anyway) - the US had a nice steelbook and I like the fact the chest thing had drawers for the ring/buckle.

Ah, jesus man . . .don't mention the fucking Helghast Edition. That brings back REALLY bad memories and just makes me all the madder that we're gonna have a similar farce with the Loot Edition.

?100 for the Helghast . . .down to ?60 just THREE weeks later and then dropped as low as ?30 soon after. Similar story with the "sold out" Gears of War 3 CE - stiffed there as well.

The lesson I've learned, at long last . . .preorder fuck-all and sit back and wait. Worked wonders with Skyrim and Max Payne and Star Wars CEs - got them all half-price or considerably less.

Well, when you consider that this was - apparently - sold out everywhere in no time flat . . .rumours of ?500+ on ebay . . .all and sundry scrambling for a copy . . tears and threats of suicide for the unfortunate "too-lates" . . . .

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I was talking to a serious CE nut who works for GAME and he was recounting all these tales of how 2K wanted to keep this a very "limited" edition and of their desire to produce a seriously collectable CE - turning down pleas to make more, blahdy blah . . .christ, what a load of bollocks.

My suspicion is that the publishers were co-erced into upping the numbers as part of the exclusivity deal in whatever country. To be honest, my blood runs cold when i hear that GAME have procured another "exclusive" because there always seems to be some sort of hassle wherever they - and to be fair, Zavvi - are concerned. Might not be always their fault but that's the way it seems.

I can remember sulking over missing out on the Uncharted 3 Chest because those twats at Irish Gamestop wanted the pre-order money upfront. But at least everything went smoothly with that and all the people that bought it were more than happy.

I suppose the only upside is that all the scalpers stockpiles have now become worthless which means that anybody who still craves this edition can have one.

Not much consolation to the rest of us mugs who must all feel royally fucked over by this time.

Just opened up my gf's to check the certificate number and it was around 380ish limited or not I'm happy with that. I'm still probably going to get rid of the map, postcards, creature guide and steelbook from it though, probably give it to someone who got the vault hunter edition.

My certificate for the UK PS3 edition just says 497 (not out of XXXXX). Vhal's PAL 360 version just says 55167 and Darkkitarists Slovenian version is just numbered 37456.

So what about all the people who have a certificate that says 5XXXX out of 5XXXX or whatever.

What's the difference between those numbered out of 5XXXX and those not ??

Late last month I received my copy of the Borderlands 2 loot chest edition. I was very disappointed to discover the look chests are not actually limited. Photographs released before the game came out indicted each loot chest was individually numbered to 53,160 while my copy has no number and therefore a limitless number of loot chests could have been produced. This greatly diminishes the value and rarity of the loot chest edition. Adding to this, various game stores have the item back in stock, indicate endless copies are being produced further limiting the value and rarity of each copy.

Customers who purchase collectors editions should be considered valuable customers; they pre-order the game and are prepared at least launch price for the game, and will not buy the title second hand.

take-two has done this before to collectors, this has previously occurred with the Duke Nukem Collectors edition and is very disappointing.

Given the overproduction of collectors editions in the past, it greatly decreases the lure to pre-order titles like Aliens and instead wait until collectors editions are bargain binned like Bioshock 2 was.

Yeah, I think we sometimes get a little too protective of our expectations and rights. In the cold light of day it's still a nice CE even if it didn't meet our expectations of a "holy grail" edition that we managed to get at the expense of those who didn't.

Well now it's a level playing field and EVERYBODY who wants one can have one.

Having said that, i still think that games companies, publishers and online outlets could be a bit more efficient and less money-grabbing - customer service STILL stinks :nono:

I personally am satisfied with the Loot Chest, but that's just me. I think the way they are legally safe to basically show us a picture of whatever will make us flock to buy it (ie: XXXXXout of 53k) is that little asterisk thats always under the description of every CE I've looked at:
