It really pisses me off too when a game arrives damaged simply because the sender is too lazy or cheap to use proper packaging. It is something that can be completely avoided. I haven't really had this issue with eBay sellers, moreso Amazon & some other online retailers.

The last game I bought from Amazon arrived with the case curved & looked like a banana, because they use those shitty bubble mailers that give no protection. It went straight back!

For this reason & if possible any new games I like to buy from a bricks & mortar store so I can inspect the game before leaving. I'm the same with movies as well.

For new items, you expect it to be in perfect condition. Secondhand items, you can expect some issues, not everyone looks after their stuff like us.

I usually buy all my CE from a physical store also and have it shipped in there also. Takes the high amount of risk from the local postal carriers out of my side of the equation. A few times I've gone to pick it up, only to see the box mangled. Needless to say, made them give me a different/better version.

Yeah, that's why buying certain e-retailer exclusives make my anxiety go up as the only option is to have it shipped.

Yeah, I know how that goes, not too happy I had to have Bordelands 3 shipped as the only option... last time I had a time-sensitive CE sent to my house (Mafia 3), the postal service dropped it off at someone else's house on the block... took me 2 hours of arguing with their dispatch (who wouldn't believe me) for the guy to go get it back. Luckily they never opened it and used the codes or anything. It's why I am always wary on anything from Ubi and Square Enix as they seem to have a hard-on for wanting to do exclusives that we can't buy in stores...

Just way too much to go wrong with the postal service. At least at the brick-and-mortars they're getting a very large amount in at a time so most will be in great shape.

We have a post office box where all our mail goes to which mitigates most of the postie issues, might be an option for you to look into.

Yeah we had one when I was younger which worked great. But most online retailers nowadays won't ship to a PO Box anymore. I could have the local post office hold everything but then I physically have to be the one to pick it up, and they hold it an extra day when they do hold it

I don't know what it's like in the states, but I get everything sent to mine here in Australia without issue. It's only couriers like Fedex & DHL that need a physical street address, everything else (incl bills, etc) goes to the PO Box, that includes Amazon & other major retailers.

My PO is like 5 mins from home & my missus usually checks it every morning. They know us there too so either of us can sign for the other's packages.

Having a PO Box works for some people, not so much for others.
