^ This! Some of them lie flat anyway when open and are quite loose, like my Saints Row and Mass Effect 3 Femshep steel for example. Some won't lie flat, like my FS Mass effect steel.

If it won't lie flat, I won't push it down to be flat. It all depends on the steelbook. As Vhall said, you're not gonna damage the spine unless you try to fold it back on it's self. Lol
