I have no desire to ever own a digital collector's edition
Honestly I dislike the idea of DLC anyways All part of the battle between publishers and retailers like gamestop who sell 2nd hand copies thereby stopping the publisher from getting any money off the 2nd sale I mean we all know that the DLC they release 3 or 4 months after the game came out originally was ready to go on release right? Also CE/retailer specific DLC irks me because then it can cost an arm and a leg just to get all the outfits for your character ![]() Luckily I don't really like to accessorize, sometimes I'll buy mission DLC but that's about it

If it was the only option I wouldn't like it - I love having my physical items that I can look at and instantly remember the game and enjoying it.
Also the digital ones defeat part of the point of collecting imo, part of it is getting something rare but there's effectively an infinite amount of digital ones. (Right enough, on the other hand, at least some folk wouldn't miss out with digital CEs.) However, if I already own the actual CE of a game and I was going to pick the same game up on, say, Steam later on, I might splurge for the digital CE if it's not much of a price difference if it has the soundtrack; that way I can easily have a backup copy of soundtracks in case something goes wrong on my PC and then I wouldn't have to dig out the physical CD if I wanted it. As for the Ultimate Team type of stuff whether that's Madden or the one I've heard about, Fifa, personally I don't quite get the appeal of that, however I know that loads of folk do - Again it comes down to it not being a physical thing, like I can look at my shiny Gyarados I got when Pok?mon was popular and I still love it because of the happy memories from it just by holding it, but I can't imagine years later looking at a screen showing I had, hell, I don't know, Filip Sebo as a virtual trading card and have it bring back the same feelings/memories. Basically I think what it is, is that with digital, I can only see it but with physical stuff, there's sight, smell (like the Asian DA:O box smells lovely) and there's tactile feedback and it all combines for me into something that lets me experience my emotions, feelings and memories of the game/movie/whatever again in a strong way. |

Physical distribution will die out to be non existent it's inevitable - by then we will most likely be all dead anyhow!
