Re: Assassin's Creed Syndicate Charing Cross Edition, Rooks Edition & Big Ben Collect
If manufacturing costs were a criteria for me I'd pass on all CEs.
My criteria is related more to pleasure, collectibility, meaning and scarcity. Big Ben is the more limited and complete collectible considering it's only available in certain parts of the world and has numbered lithographs. Seems like the better collectible to me. It has a better chance to hold or increase in value on the aftermarket. Therefore, whilst I know it's somewhat expensive, I'm not losing money should I decide to sell it down the line. It becomes a pleasurable investment of sorts. That's where my focus would be rather than breaking down manufacturing costs. But that's just me. Will I enjoy it? Will it hold or increase in value? Will it feel like a desirable limited CE? What's the significance of the extra pieces? E.g. I'm interested in the the role of Big Ben in the game and hence the significance as a statue. Stuff like that.... Charging Cross is available in the States and Worldwide and lacks the numbered lithographs. It's everywhere. It's ultimately 2nd best in the CE line up no matter how you try to rationalize it. But we l have our own criteria for limited collectibles. So if you like Charing Cross and it meets your criteria, get it! If you think Big Ben is a con, don't get it. But I think the differences are significant enough to warrant some of us choosing Big Ben. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Its a gamble, but based on Unity I am hesitant. Unfortunately the main thing I remember about Unity was the poor performance on release. Funnily enough the quality of the game made me value the collectibles less, even though the game got fixed. Buying collectible editions should not be a decision based on future resale value, that's just silly and collecting for the sake of collecting. Buying them should be based on the quality of the game and the franchise as a whole, how close you relate and feel about the rich storyline of the characters and how the collectibles evoke memories of the game. If you're buying based on scarcity of the game edition then you're simply hoarding items by attaching monetary value to them rather than items you have an emotional connection to. If you're overlooking manufacturing costs altogether, then you're simply propagating the issue of gaming companies inflating prices while reducing quality and expecting the same profits. That's wrong. Last edited by dwade23; 05-15-2015 at 01:53 PM. |

Re: Assassin's Creed Syndicate Charing Cross Edition, Rooks Edition & Big Ben Collect
For me it's both.
Of course you have to care about the game. I'm English. I'm more excited about this one than any of the AC games. If I was a hoarder I'd be sitting in the Final Fantasy threads - a game I have zero interest in. But I'm also not going to spend nearly $200 on collectibles that shrink in value. It's not sustainable for me. I collect a lot of things. They bring me great pleasure. Future value is a factor (one of many). I have limited space and my collection changes over the years. Old pieces must make way for new. So in fact I'm the opposite of a hoarder. It's a criteria for me and many other collectors. Especially if an old piece can fund a new piece. It's just smart. To be clear it's a part of MANY criteria including my personal attachment to the game. Just like breaking down manufacturing costs between two levels of CE is not a criteria for me. Sure they fixed it up, but not without massive community uproar and disapproval. Having to wait weeks for a game to be fixed (that should be polished on release) is completely unacceptable. If future monetary value of a collectible is more important to you than the positive connection you have to the game, then you need to cut down your collection imo (that was the impression of your previous post). For me, old pieces stay in the collection regardless of their age because they were bought out of true desire, not how scarce they are going to be in a few years. I have never sold a collectible piece unless it was defective. You can check my collection thread by clicking on my started threads. All my collectibles are on display and stay on display otherwise its not a collectible, its a novelty, and doesn't stand the test of time. Last edited by dwade23; 05-15-2015 at 02:32 PM. |

Re: Assassin's Creed Syndicate Charing Cross Edition, Rooks Edition & Big Ben Collect
We're not going to agree dwade23 because we're not listening to each other.
Regardless. I am excited. Here are the three lithographs for people who haven't seen them. Voting ends May 26th. Hard to vote when I have little idea of the significance of the locations in the game or indeed the character / interaction of the last lithograph. Anyone else know? Otherwise the default is number 2. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Damn, I didn't want to convince you to buy something, just that the price they charge is not overly expensive

Re: Assassin's Creed Syndicate Charing Cross Edition, Rooks Edition & Big Ben Collect
This Game Looks Awesome So Far Sadly Big Ben Edition Is Already On EBAY. Speaking Of The Big Ben Edition I'm Guessing It'll Probably Be Close In Weight To Unity. So For Those From The U.S. Who Bought The Guillotine Edition Of AC: Unity, How Much Was Shipping?
