I think this one is a pretty good deal - comes with the limited edition of the game (with steelbook, retails for $80). But I don't think people would buy it if it doesn't as the new generation of consoles is coming later this year.

Still no consoles up in Canada yet although EB games has the controller and headset while Best Buy just has the controller. Luckily I got one preordered off Sony Direct in case I can't get one. I'm sure Amazon will sell the console and controller at some point. I think they are just late to the party.

Site is still up just broken. Also I am not sure they said they cancelled all orders, pretty sure they cancelled just the ones that were not supposed to be processed.

Here was their official email after the disaster pre-order time (I was there for 20 minutes trying to get an order in lol I knew odds of getting one were low but man the website issues kept stock for 20 minutes when it probably would have sold out instantly):


"Many of you had issues with payments today. We’re not okay with this, we’re embarrassed, and we’re not opening up sales again until we’re sure that this won’t happen again. With that said, we are delaying international pre-orders until later this month.
If you were charged today, but received no confirmation email, your order did not complete. Charges for orders that did not complete will be reversed back to you. This usually happens within one day.

What we’re doing differently going forward:
We’re spreading out releases into multiple smaller batches instead of releasing everything at once. This will ease the strain on our systems, which will help to avoid the issues we saw today.

I emailed them after the pre-orders, but long before this apology email, that they should do a lottery of those interested that way there are no bot or website issues.

They are really sketchy - I did some reach and saw a few Reddit post discussing this. Their website wasn’t registered until a few days ago, and nobody knows who they were. They posted this on their Twitter but now their Twitter account is gone.

Although I really don’t hope so, I think they are a scam. I’d recommend watching the credit card you used to order this very closely if you don’t want to lock your card and get a new number.

They are new. If they were a scam doing only 300 models would not make sense. Shutting down orders would not make sense. Not sure why they needed to be up for years to take them seriously on something super small like this. Reddit is just looking for a reason to think this was noting to begin with so they will feel better that they did not ruin getting one by threatening to kill the owners lol.

But yeah better safe then sorry I just do not agree with your reasoning. Nothing about this seems illegitimate. In fact seems they went out of their way to be super transparent and fair and issues stemmed from the fact they have never done this before.

i read some other users comments stating it is basically a phishing scam possibly? to package personal data and credit card numbers and sell them off to sleazy folks in exotic locales who thrive off of committing fraudulent acts..again, it was some other person speculating because of how suddenly the company changed gears..if they were "credible" threats as stated..then they should immediately contact authorities and their internet service providers and not bend or succumb to degenerates...i find it hard pressed to believe that a small group of folks were making a new company from scratch and somehow were "guaranteed" access to 300 PS5 units!?, all at once too basically!?..that they went ahead! and posted pre-orders!!?...when majority of major retailers still are struggling to even get 1-4 units in stock per store!.and these major retailers have direct relationships with official SONY distributors too!..none of this makes sense!..other than some "scheme" to collect personal data!? perhaps?..i am just paraphrasing what other's have stated on different forums.

They were definitely in WAY over their heads. Sounds like they probably had no idea how they were even going to get them made if they are willing to back out so easy (as if they were far into the process and were invested past a website it would not make any sense to back out).

The taunting Sony thing I think you are confusing this with a different company called "dbrand" (a different seller/brand that is making black faceplates only... they taunted Sony to come after them as Sony had threatened and shut down a UK startup earlier, though it seems the issue those people had was that they were using the PS logo on the plates which dbrand and SUP3R5 would not have). Basically there were 3 different faceplate companies in the span of a few months time (the UK one I cannot remember the name but it was like "PS5Plates", or something, and then there is, SUP3R5, and DBRAND).

Also the SUP3R5 thing as far as I know as just supposed to make this one thing. They were not getting into it to later compete with Colorware lol

I am sure they will. But the SUP3R5 one was not just black faceplates. It was a limited numbered run of custom PS5's and PS5 Controllers. So even if Sony does make black faceplates it will not be the same thing for collectors, but it will be great for those who just wanted an all black PS5 console.
