I'm going to believe that Zavvi stuffed up and incorrectly placed those details instead of creating a new sku detail which I'm anticipating for the EU region anyway.

The new description has massive discrepancies from the original and initial content details such as omitting the MGS4 disc, MGS1 download code and also did not include the art book and tshirt....more importantly, it's supposed to be 'numbered' individually between 0001-4000. I'll wait until Zavvi fixes up their error. :ghey: :scratch:

I got the same email, I believe the first 4000 units pre-order are now no longer "special" :S

It looks like the only incentive for preordering the first 4000 units is that you'll also receive the Platinum version of MGS4.

So Konami are no longer making a real 'Ultimate Edition' as this Zavvi "PS3 exclusive" will no longer include the MGS1 download voucher nor will it be individually numbered at all! And was only for the first 4000 preorder, but watch the many who will cancel their preorders due to the now not so special edition. :(

Konami has scrapped the U.E. and screwed many people. lolcry ebay sellers and buyers...lots of refunds gonna happen soon! :D

Expect Zavvi to also create new preorders entitled 'Limited Edition'...along with other UK site ;) xx

Yes, technically it is. But it was never going to be exclusive to Australia, it's just that Australia received it first like many other CE/LE from the past. The first 4000 units for the PS3 version is still Zavvi's "Ultimate Edition" as it'll include a copy of MGS4 [Platinum Edition], and the Xbox360 version plus the rest of the PS3 version will just be the normal PAL Limited Edition.

I'm sure there'll be some uproar about this, and many angry bird eBay sellers! :rotf:

Either way, this is no longer special to me as I'm essentially already getting the exact same edition down here [bar the MGS4 game included from Zavvi].

Zavvi's UE may or may not have 4000 PS3 editions exclusive to them, but then there will definitely be more than 4000 PAL units around if you're to included the Australian PS3 edition ;)

We will soon find out all the fine details, just don't hold your breath for a complete Zavvi 'exclusive' of the Limited Edition....because they haven't got one preorder for the Xbox360 version as yet :hug::poke: xx

I don't think it's fair to blame Zavvi for this revelations, it wasn't their decision to make changes to the "Ultimate Edition" [which is technically just scrapped]. This was Konami's doing and had chosen to no longer make a 'worldwide' exclusive, which was probably due to production cost? Who knows, but don't blame Zavvi, they weren't in any control of this imo.

But I'm also sad because i finally got the zavvi version for an ok price and was excited to have 2 different version of metal gear steelbook. Not only have Konami messed us around, but Zavvi seem to be sticking two fingers up at us as well - First they don't bother to tell us that the release date is changed (until I Tweeted them about it), and when they do the eMail they send is riddled with errors

Even more annoying to me is the fact that this CE has gone from being a PS3 exclusive to being available for the X360 as well, although I do think they have a nerve charging the same price for the PS3 as the X360 when the PS3 version comes with MGS4...

Speaking of that, who honestly wants a Platinum version of MGS4? What is the point of that? Anyone buying this will most likely have a separate copy of MGS4 aleady. Half the appeal of the originally announced MGS HD SteelBook was the fact that all the main series games would be available in one set - If anyone wanted to have a complete package, then they're now being robbed of that. There's absolutely no reason as to why MGS4 can't be included inside the SteelBook with the other games

The other main draw for this set is the fact that it was limited and going to be numbered. Now there's no word of whether or not is is still going to be limited and numbered. Why take that away from us? Why announce it in the first place if they're just going to change their minds? My guess is, they spotted eBay sellers trying to make a profit and decided to stitch them up by changing the contents

Well it depends, if the buyer isn't aware of the changes then what will happen is that they will receive the new version without knowing. They can of course return providing that the seller advertised the contents on their listing with the old content.

Well I got my limited US version today and that book cover is exactly the same!
Unforutanately, or fortunately as it now seems(because that looks 99.9% like a stickerbook), I never preordered the Zavvi edition.
I did get my hands on the Japanese limited edition peacewalker with two models and a mug!! Not that i'm gloating or anything. As it goes though, I still want the uk/au edition too.

I'm just curious if you guys in other countries get your items from zavvi lost. If so, then it could be workers from MHI stealing the items. If this problem is isolated to Singapore, then it's probably WMG staff stealing them. It's almost always the big packages that go missing. DVDs, books and standard games all arrived safely for me. I suspect the workers supplement their income by stealing CE and selling them off.

last time when they charge 2.49 pounds for shipping, it was k cos it was send here directly by royal mail.

but every since they give free shipping or 0.99 pounds now, it become so bad until we lodge complaint also useless.

when we order huge item like, ce/le/watch/wallet/tshirt also gone, ask for replacement then sometime it came, sometime it doesn't

I think everyone in Singapore gets their items lost when ordering from zavvi. They use some company called MHI to ship the items then it's passed to a local company called WMG.

I'm just curious if you guys in other countries get your items from zavvi lost. If so, then it could be workers from MHI stealing the items. If this problem is isolated to Singapore, then it's probably WMG staff stealing them. It's almost always the big packages that go missing. DVDs, books and standard games all arrived safely for me. I suspect the workers supplement their income by stealing CE and selling them off.

I've had about 10 in 60 odd orders gone missing. Refunds is a pain in the ass too with zavvi. They send out refund forms by post which again have a tendency to get lost and the whole process takes about 3-4 weeks itself :| :facepalm:

Yes, I'm happy to be getting the artbook. No, i'm not happy about having the 4000-piece yanked away on Konami's whim. I'll certainly not be happy if it's a poxy stickerbook either.

But why should i have to be happy with this or unhappy with that when Konami should never have announced the limited numbered steelbook in the first place. 4000 was never going to satisfy the huge MGS fanbase . . .and all this from a games company with years and years of experience from arcades to video games.

Hideo Kojima would have had much to say about limited editions and ensuring the price point of theses editions is affordable to the franchises HUGE fanbase. He has always been that way. The fact that Zavvi said that they doing Europe and that worldwide there is some 2000 copies outside of Europe only. I.e Australia and New Zealand.

This leads me to believe they are same.

See if you can choose the gift wrap option. I did this with a previous order from them and it came amazingly well protected. It was put in a box with padding, gift wrapped then put in a second, larger outer box with more padding. Only costs £2 too.

I think they cottoned on to the fact people were using these codes for pre-orders, which it should not be valid for (see terms). It's happened before with other stuff. Technically they could cancel orders used with this code, but that's not likely.

It must just be specific CEs that they restrict destinations for a limited time. I knew that other UK sites did not allow for Deus Ex to sell outside of the UK, but I guess since they realised that not enough of the CE were selling and have too many stocks...I guess a sale is a sale even if you have to sell it outside of the UK?!

As for this particular collector's item...I probably wouldn't gamble on it getting cheaper as it's limited in stock for the entire UK/EU region. If it follows the trend from the recent release from the US, it won't take too long for it to be sold out or the price hiked elsewhere?!?

I only really collect NTSC releases and for x-plat game I always go for the 360 version so this was pretty far out of my normal collecting habits.

Well, I think it took about 2 days for the original 4,000 to sell out. So if you go by that logic then 13,000 should sell out in a little over 6 days. (4,000 every 2 days).

I think they went up on the 7th right then it should sell out around the 14th give or take.

That's using the same numbers and time frame mind you.

These are STILL very limited. I know not 4,000 limited, however there are WAY more than 13,000 hardcore MGS fans out there. After all MGS4 is the second highest selling ps3 game in the UK according to Chart-Track, not to mention how well it has sold over here in the states.

Our U.S. limited edition is selling for big bucks on ebay and these steelbook ones are far nicer (the US LE only includes the artbook and the regular plastic game in a cardboard case) and I believe more limited!

Once the word gets around I think these will pick up speed.

You also have to take into account how many cancelled their previous orders after the product had changed.

I am guessing more of them are keeping than canceling but we don't know how many.

I'd imagine Zavvi would have made back those numbers and then some by now.

errr...The US Limited Edition did not sell out during its Pre-Order period [on Amazon's site anyway], it wasn't until 1-2 weeks after release that it sold out from Amazon's site. [bar Marketplace's rip off prices].

Plus, not forgetting this is pretty much different to what was totally and completely exclusive to Zavvi months ago....it's a totes different ball game now. I wouldn't expect this to sell out until after release [like the US]. Plus, there were other games out that needed buying asap :P

cancel your ebay copy and get a refund. This is no longer zavvi exclusive as Australia will be getting the same item. The new pre-orders are the same meaning:

no more numbered steelbook, except the older pre-orders get a platinum copy of mgs4 (PS3 only), probably a move to screw ebay sellers :D

twisted mate it won't be a stickerbook lol the only sticker books I've ever come across from console games are "freebies" from inland Europe which IMO are worthless as there not proper (can make your own!) so don't worry it will be a proper Steelbook unless you can name another CE which come with a Steelbook inside?

i seriously doubt these are as strictly limited as zavvi says, mayber zavvi was sincere at that time to keep this at low numbers, but from konami/zavvi/ebgames aus business point, why would they refuse profit and sales?...especially in a down economy?..i bet there's way more than 10,000 worldwide or 4,000, this has been on sale well over a month with no sell outs in sight anywhere...even in AUS, with it's supposed only 1,000 to 3,000 copies or something like that...definitely feel, they've ramped up production and it's gonna be a big run, similiar to other collector editions just like the so-called only 12,000 sonic generations collectors worldwide, where even today some 3 months later, it's still available for sale on amazon.de although amazingly the xbox360 version sold out in matter of days whereas where 3 months out and ps3 is still for sale.

Hi, I've been following CE.org for a while now, have read what some have been saying on this thread and have to agree that it's probably not as limited as they'd like you to believe.

The references to numbers made are not on the Zavvi website, and given that these new 'supposed' numbers are still low(ish), you would expect an e-tailer, with 'supposed' exclusive rights to advertise about how many were available?

I had also previously pre-ordered the original 'Ultimate' version, with strong reservations as I have ordered 4 times from Zavvi in the past, and I have only ever received one of those items, and this was 6 weeks after release (it was damaged as well!).

You may ask why I ordered with them again and the answer is simply that they had the cheapest offer on two occasions and the others were exclusives.

As a collector, despite there being so many Collector Editions last year, I actually think it was one of the worst years. Simple because the Publishers have gotten very wise to the psyche of a typical Collector and they are now frequently ripping us off. The only Collector Edition I bought last year (and I stupidly bought many) that wasn't still available well after it's release or reduced to an amount that made me think I should have waited was the Uncharted 3 Explorer Edition.

I can only put that down to A. Sony seem to do the best CEs, B. It was exclusive to few suppliers, C. It was exclusive to one console platform, and D. They didn't make millions of them! Every other one went down in price Gears Epic £100 - £40, Skyrym £130 - £70, Deus Ex, Space Marine etc.

I've cancelled my order, I'm not saying this for any one to do the same, as I know that as a collector of these types of merchandise, it's sometimes very hard. Just saying that we ourselves are part of the problem as we will all moan about the quality or value of these CE but like me last year just keep buying them. I just don't see how a steel tin, t-shirt and book can be justified at the price they want when it's not even limited or numbered? I got that limited Avatar blu-ray box that came out on play a while back, not great value but at least it was limited to 1000 and it was numbered.

yea, supposedly supplies in australia were severely restricted to only about 1500 total for the whole country, what a total sham that number is, because where closing in on 3 months and with such a huge title it is still available for sale in australia as well as zavvi which was supposed to only get 6000 for all of europe and the world,..i bet there's more around 20,000.

I tend to agree but as I pointed out in the other thread, if there is a 'real' steelbook (and the other photo seems to imply there is and it's PS3 sized) then I suspect what's happened is that than was the original design, however when they announced that there were more copies it was easy to just run more of the 'real' steelbook - but for the X360 that would require making a whole new production run so I suspect is is POSSIBLE that they will be different.

Alternatively the photo of the 'real' steelbook was a one-off design copy that will no-doubt sell for millions one day :D
