Sonic Generations Collector’s Edition unveiled

As most may know already there will be a decent Collector’s Edition for Sonic Generations for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation3. Well, better late than never. The Collector’s Edition, which, for whatever reason is exclusive to Europe and Australia comes packed in a fancy lenticular box that changes the cover art depending on what angle you’re looking at it from.
It also includes the following items:

  • collectable figurine featuring both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic
  • an exclusive, individually numbered commemorative “Gold Ring”
  • a “20 Years of Sonic Art” book, containing never before seen sketches and images from the past 20 years.
  • ‘20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack’ featuring a selection of tracks handpicked by Sonic Team
  • ‘History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon’ documentary, an exclusive collection of interviews and footage charting Sonic’s life from inception through to becoming one of the most iconic characters in videogame history
  • Bonus additional downloadable content

No pricing had yet been confirmed. Release date is set to November 2011.
Update: The Collector’s Edition is now available for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk at a price of £85.52.

For some reason, that gold ring makes me think of marriage proposal.

I hope this doesn't turn out like X-Blades wherein you had a collector's edition that puts other collector's editions to shame, but the game didn't merit or deserve it.

That statuette of the two Sonics made me cry a little inside. Made me remember my childhood (Sonic was the first video game character I ever knew and loved) and reflect on how far Sonic has come.

It also made me cry a lot outside. Why the hell is it another one of those PAL-exclusive CEs?!

Is available for preorder in Amazon.uk

  4. Lemur:
Wow finally Sonic gets a CE. Looks like PAL regions getting all the good stuff nowadays. You guys so lucky!

Edit: At that price, not so lucky for everyone :p

Preordered, better have money then or else I'm gonna take a bloody hissy fit! xx

Amazon.co.uk won't send games to Australia.

Nothing's been announced on who will stock this in Australia yet.

So far GAME and JB online have it now, including an LE from GAME.

  8. SquirrelRaper:
I like this collectors edition. I can't think of any Sonic games atm that came as a CE. And I think this game is actually going to be decent.

Yeah, I just saw it mentioned on Facebook. I'll be getting it from GAME.

Any idea on how big the statue is?

If the promo pictures are to scale, then I would say just under the size of a Blu-ray case.

    That's if it's to scale.

I believe that so far, only Amazon.co.uk have listed this. I have Tweeted SEGA and asked them if they could possibly give detals as to which stores will be stocking it. I do hope Amazon don't have the exclusive...

  13. Onyxia:
Not sure if anyone else from NA wanted to get their hands on this, but Amazon.de actually ships worldwide, unlike amazon.co.uk and amazon.fr (I personally wasn't able to check out with the game on either of those sites). Preordered a copy as I loved the blue guy back in the days.

If you want a English version you could also order from Jb-hf-fi from Australia. although not exactly cheap, they ship worldwide aswell.

For some reason, I couldn't check out on their website either. I tried with different browsers and computers, but no good. Every time I enter my address and try to save it, it doesn't do anything. Not sure if it's been changed since, I should give it another try! ... otherwise the plan was to wait for the regular American game to hit the $20 bin (like all Sonic games do nowdays, poor guy).

  16. gurpswoo1:
I just created an account with them to test. I got all the way to the input your payment details page. Obviously didn't go any further.

Can you tell exactly where is the problem is.

  17. Onyxia:
I can't make it past the "Billing Details" pop up. Whenever I click "save", it doesn't actually save my address. I just noticed they take PayPal (only problem is that they would charge right away, I suppose).

Though my total with Amazon.de came out to €98 so that's roughly $134US (game was €84 and shipping&handling was €14). Guess it is cheaper to go with them, though not by much. What's odd is that Amazon shows the game as being €99E, not €84. Unless there's something I missed.

  18. gurpswoo1:
This is the difference in Tax percentage. In Germany it is 19% as oppose to the 6-8% in the Canada.

In most of Europe TAX is included in the display price, not sure why it is not in the US or CA.

  19. Onyxia:
Oh, right, taxes. Guess I've been buying too much on Ebay lately and actually forgot about them (I usually just buy from individuals so I rarely deal with taxes). I do wish they were included in the display price in North America to be honest. It's always a nasty surprise at the end. Would be so much better if they were just displayed right away. But thanks for pointing that out!
