Call of Duty: Modern Warefare 3 Hardened Edition Details Leaked

September 1st, 2011 Michael Pica

Many of you wrote it to tell us about a wired article showing off leaked advertisement info for the upcoming Hardened Edition of Modern Warefare 3.

Call of Duty Modern Warefare 3 (SteelBook) Hardened Edition (Xbox 360) {PS3) [PAL] (Activision) (Infinity Ward)

The photo shows the BBFC rating logo meaning this is likely information on the UK release (although if past COD CEs are any indication all versions internationally are the same). While not specifically mentioned it seems that again, like past COD releases, it will include a SteelBook case for the game disc itself.

Explicitly mentioned is the following content:

  • 1 year of Call of Duty: “Elite” Membership
  • Special “Founder” status, which profiles you with exclusive:
    • in-game emblem
    • player card
    • weapon camouflage
    • clan xp boost
    • other benefits
  • PSN animated timeline theme
  • Xbox Avatar Special Ops Juggernaut Outfit.
  • A Field journal with 100+ pages of authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries chronicling the Modern Warfare saga.

What seems most peculiar to me is that Activision has waited so long to mention details on this release and the inevitable Prestige Edition, even after this leak they refused to comment. Most likely they are simply waiting for the Call of Duty Convention occurring this weekend. We’ll post up details once they’re available.

Modern Warfar 2 Veteran Edition for the US?

November 17th, 2009 Michael Pica

I recently received a link from Scott Williams showing that Barns & Nobel has a listing for a “Veteran Statue Bundle” of Modern Warfare 2.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Veteran Edition Statue (Xbox 360) [NTSC]

Previously it was thought that the “Veteran Edition” of Modern Warfare 2 was exclusive to the UK. It’s unclear if this listing is for a North American version of that edition or if they’re simply selling the Game and the Limited Edition Statue as a package deal.

B&N lists the bundle for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC.

Most interestingly is that it lists the seller as  “GameStop” implying that they are selling through the Barns & Noble website, yet there is no mention of this bundle on GameStop’s own website.

If anyone has any addition info on this release please leave a comment.

Modern Warfare 2 Veteran Edition

September 24th, 2009 Michael Pica

I got an email recently with the following:

I work on Modern Warfare 2, and am also a personal fan of the site (as I’m a CE heavy user).  Not sure if you saw but we added a 4TH flavor of Modern Warfare 2…the Veteran statue.  Tons of work went into this bad boy and we worked with the top collectible manufacturer in the industry, Kotobukiya,
to make it.  Sold as a bundle in the UK, or standlone statue here:

http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Warfare-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B002NWK71U

Exclusive to GAME store in the UK the Veteran edition includes the SteelBook Hardened Edtion as well as the following

  • Unique Gift Box Packaging
  • “Captain Soap MacTavish” ultra-premium ARTFX Statue sculpted by Kotobukiya

  • 3 sets of interchangeable weapons and arms, including: Dual ice-climbing pickaxes (pictured) Dual .45 caliber pistols, M14 Enhanced Battle Rifle (affixes to Soap’s back when not in use)
  • Environmental ice base stores alternate weapons when not in use

3 Flavors of Modern Warfare

July 20th, 2009 Michael Pica

Most of you probably know at this point, but for those of you who haven’t Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will come in 3 different trims.

Regular Edition: The game in a plastic case, you know the drill. Retails in the US for the standard $60 but European buyer are stuffed paying a hefty £55.

Hardened Edition: Taking it’s name from the 2nd to hardest difficulty setting in the game, this version comes in a SteelBook case a hardbound art book titled “Behind The Lines” and a code to download the original 2003 game Call Of Duty from whatever online marketplace your console uses. Setting US gamers back $80 and £70 for those in Europe

Prestige Edition: Taking it’s name from the multiplayer ranking system of the previous modern warfare game, this edition includes everything that’s in the Hardened Edition but comes in a larger cardboard box with a set of functional Night Vision Goggles capable of seeing up ot 50ft in the dark, as well as a mannequin head stand to hold them.  This at about $150 for US gamers and £120 for European gamers.

All 3 editions will arrive on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in the US and across Europe on November 10th.
