Europe to finally get Death Smiles

Earlier this year North America got a limited Edition release of the Japanese arcade shooter Death Smiles. In “Early 2011” Rising Start Games plans to bring the Cave shooter to Europe, complete with their won “Deluxe Edition”

No much is known about the price, or exact release date but they have announced that it will include the original soundtrack, a “desktop accessory pack” as well as the Mega Black Lable DLC which provides and extra stage, character and level 999 difficulty.

Like the North American release it is Xbox 360 exclusive, also like the standard Xbox 360 release it includes both the original arcade mode as well as the console exclusive v1.1 variation of the game.

By comparison the North American Limited edition also included the soundtrack and the DLC but instead of a “desktop accessory pack” it featured a faceplate. Chances are this was changed due to the release of the slim Xbox 360 which doesn’t feature a removable faceplate. I’d venture a guess that we wont be seeing faceplates included as pack-ins for CEs anymore.

Great, just when I gave up and order the US version.

I think your right about the face plates, they have been discontinued from Microsoft.

  2. Mandingo:
    No more faceplates, eh?

  3. Gemini-Phoenix:
A shame, as I deliberately bought my X360 Elite after the X360 S was released BECAUSE of faceplates!

  4. Mandingo:
It is a shame. I think faceplates are cool.

  5. Gemini-Phoenix:
I think they're cool as well. Death Smiles was such a nice CE too with the faceplate. A shame other CE's didn't adopt this, as they make great CE pack-in's!

Shopto.net have listed Death Smailes deluxe edition for just £17.86
    It contains :

    Deathsmiles: Deluxe Edition: Includes
An expanded version of the game with new features included on the disc
    New playable character Sakura
    New stage Ice Palace
    More challenging scoring system
    New difficulty setting, level 999
Play with a friend via Xbox LIVE, where the player can also measure up their success by submitting their scores to the online ranking service

Two alternate endings for each character played, leading to 10 possibilities (including Sakura from the Deathsmiles: Deluxe Edition
The story of Deathsmiles unwinds over the course of four chapters
There are nine stages total in the game which players can choose to traverse: Port Town, Graveyard, Forest of the Lost, Bog Wastes, Lakeside, Volcano, Hades Castle, Gorge and the Ice Palace
The latter two levels are entirely optional (the Ice Palace only appears as an extra level in the Deathsmiles: Deluxe Edition
Choosing the highest setting four times in a row will trigger Death Mode, which ups the difficulty even further but allows more opportunities for earning points

No Soundtrack or desktop accessory pack.

I don't get this at all, HMV have Deathsmiles normal version listed for the same price but the image is of the deluxe version with Soundtrack CD.

What's going on here, why don't Shopto, Play, etc list the game as having the Soundtrack CD and wehere is the Desktop pack.

    Hm.. That's a little confusing.

    Even more confusion:

Blah DVD have listed the game, but it description it different again.

Deathsmiles Limited Edition for Xbox 360 Includes:

    Deathsmiles for Xbox 360.

Deathsmiles faceplate for the Xbox 360 console, featuring four cute angels trapped in a creepy gothic cage.

Deathsmiles Premium Arrange Album soundtrack CD featuring 15 spooky high energy tracks selected by Manabu Namiki, director of Deathsmiles.

Deathsmiles horizontal artbox and game to compliment the side-scrolling shoot 'em up orientation of the game.

Out of the three stores with diffrerent items, I think the Shopto one is the correct one.
The others are wrong, I can't imagine the game being released with the faceplate.

Also I think there won't be a normal version of the game, there could be normal version without the extras in the 2nd press reprint.

  9. Mandingo:
Hmm. I wonder how soon this issue will get resolved...

  10. Skoolstah:
It's pretty cheap at amazon.co.uk right now: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deathsmiles-...5962647&sr=8-1

  11. Mandingo:
    £18, that's less than $30... Not bad.

  12. gurpswoo1:
It does make you wonder if this it going to be a 1st press edition, meaning that once they sell the first allocation, there will the standard version release. Like Demon Souls Black Phantom Edition.

  13. Mandingo:
Hmm. I wonder if the first allocation will even sell out? The NA Deathsmiles limited edition can still be found with ease.

You make a very good point, they may have learn't from that mistake and reduced the production order.

All we can do is wait and see what happens closer to the release date.
