I was just about to post up this news. you beat me to it

    I'm really happy they're including a SteelBook...

  2. gurpswoo1:
It's good to see they are making an effort instead of just DLC, but this edition is a big disappointment compared to the Forza 3 Collector's Edition.

  3. twistedsymphony:
I'd tend to disagree. While I loved the inclusion of the keychain, and the felt lined box for F3 I would much rather have a SteelBook as opposed to a standard plastic case and the nice hard-bound picture book is a much better include than a memory stick. I also like the art-box style case better than the sleeve over style of the F2 and F3 LCE cases.

I think my only disappointment is the white and puple "kinect themed" box art since it's a stark departure from the classy black theme of the past games.

Will be buying this for sure, like the steelbook but Forza3 had better content like the keychain and memory stick.

I just don't see the fascination of steelbooks compared to a digipak design, especially one as good Forza 3. Yes compared to the boring standard plastic case, it is a considerably improvement. But steelbooks are mostly of the same size and start to become generic, especially when they are used in large volumes as they are now.

Don’t get me wrong, I would get a steelbook version over a normal plastic version, but they are pushing it for a £50+ collector’s Edition. It just looks lazy by the designers, "just get a steelbook made, job done".

Steelbooks should be glossed or lacquered to make it shiny and to mostly protect it during postage, the current design is not suitable for postage like normal plastic cases. Poor design or just making it as cheap as possible, who knows. The result is the same.

    Ok rant over.

I know what you mean about generic looking SteelBooks... Honestly the average thought going into them has gone downhill dramatically. They used to ALWAYS have embossed covers and variations in the finish so that some areas were shiny and other areas were matte. coupled with nice artwork on the inside. Now most of them are just standard editions with the art painted on aluminum instead of paper. I also agree that a nice Digi Pack is every bit as good as a SteelBook (and in some cases the digi-packs are actually much nicer)

I just feel like a CE is cheap when the Disc is in a regular old plastic case. I will at least give that F3's LCE used alternative cover art for the case instead of just throwing the standard edition in the box like GT5 did...

however a Digi-Pack or SteelBook in the F3 LCE would have, in my eyes, made it go from a "pretty nice" CE to "one of my favorite CEs of all time"

The barn-door style box with felt lined inlays for the key chain and stick was awesome... but seeing the plastic case in the middle just cheapened the whole thing for me....

Considering the F4 LCE is just like the F2 LCE but with the paper back replaced with a hard cover and the plastic case replaced with a steelbook.. maybe the F5 LCE will be like the F3 LCE with the plastic case replaced
