The First Edition of Steel Battalion comes in a very large cardboard box decorated to look like an ammo container. It includes the game along with the massive Steel Battalion controller.

History:
The First edition was only available in limited quantities it was the only version of the game available before production stopped. Later a sequel was released: Steel Battalion: Line of Contact. To coincide with the release of the sequel the original Steel Battalion (with controller) was re-released at a lower price. The most notable difference between the first edition and the re-release are the color of the buttons on the controller (green for the first edition and blue for the re-release) There are other minor visual differences between the controllers such as the finish on the button panels and the style of the foot-pedals.
