Not long ago rumors about a Red Xbox 360 started popping up. Kotaku recently caught a tid-bit where in an announcement to New Zealand retailers Microsoft inadvertently confirmed the console.
The email was to announce a deal whereby anyone buying a 360 console in NZ would, for a limited time, receive a free copy of Halo Wars. Good deal! Except, there’s a catch. You’ll get the game if you buy an Arcade, Pro or Elite model, but “this Halo Wars offer does not apply to the Red Xbox 360 Elite console which is exclusive to EB games.”
It would seem that this new rumored “Limited Edition” Red console will be exclusive to EB Games (now known as “Game” in the UK and “GameStop” in the US). It will be interesting to see if there is anything in particular that will make this console desirable to consumers beyond just the color. I would have to be something that’s worth more than a free copy of Halo Wars at least.

At the end of this year’s Game Developers Conference, Cliffy B, lead designer of the Gears of War series announced that Gears of War 2 would be arriving in Stores this November.
Full Details can be found on the official Gears of War 2 webpage.
While not specifically mentioned in the announcement the webpage provided placeholder artwork as well as pricing data for a Limited Edition of the game. Gamestop and Amazon.com are both taking preorders for the Limited Edition at $69.99 (USD).
The Limited Collector’s Edition of the first Gears of War ended up being a difficult item to find, even on release day. I would highly recommend getting your pre-orders in if you’re interested in the Limited Edition of Gears of War 2.

While I was at the store picking up my Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition I pre-ordered several other new games including Condemned 2: Bloodshot and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty Collector’s Edition, among a few other titles. In any case it would appear that my Gamestop received their pre-order bonus content in early for both Condemned and Turning point as I was treated to some items for those games.
While Condemned 2: Bloodshot wont be coming in any special trim (shame really) Gamestop’s pre-order bonus is a “Limited Edition Multiplayer Handbook”. This handbook is limited in the same way fun-sized candy bars are actually fun. Regardless, the book features nice glossy print and some game art accompanying the “strategy”; it gives me something interesting to read about the game while I wait for it’s release. Far be it from me to look a gift horse in the mouth.
I was actually quite surprised with what I got for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty. A large sealed envelope with the games name on it. I liked the idea of the envelope, like a top-secret document of sorts. Though it’s presentation was rather cheesy, the contents of the envelope impressed me immensely. Inside was a “welcome to the resistance” letter, a letter sized lithography with some game art on it, five high quality post cards with some really nice game art, a large fold out two sided poster with an alternative history timeline explaining the games back story on one side and some more game art on the other, a bonus DVD with a behind the scenes/making of documentary, and a card with a code on it that will presumably unlock some bonus game content. I was really quite impressed considering that all of this was essentially free just for agreeing to purchase the game. The game is a Collector’s Edition too, and one that will only cost and extra $5 over the retail price of the regular edition. The game seems interesting enough but I’m curious if the bonus content with the game will match that of the pre-order pack.
I think the pre-order pack for Turning Point does a lot to really bring you into the game’s world. If this is a game you’re thinking about buying you owe it to yourself to pre-order it and get one of these packages, it’s well worth it.

Information has popped up on Amazon.com as well as Gamestop.com about a Limited Edition release of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This NTSC release is poised to include:
- Collectible Poker Chip Key Chain
- Limited Edition Bonus Disk including:
- Strategy Video with tips and secrets from the developers, pro gamers, and the Frag Dolls
- Pro Gamer Interview: a look at the life of a pro gamer with MLG player FinestX
- MLG Pro Circuit ’07 Season Highlights
- A “Sneak Peek” look at Tom Clancy’s EndWar – a video featuring a hands on look at this new Tom Clancy game franchise with the Frag Dolls.
- Limited edition case design
Both Amazon and Gamestop have different cover art and it’s unknown which (if any) are the final box art. Though, my money is on the Amazon art (right).
Pre-orders though EB and Gamestop will also receive a code to unlock the Comcast Optimized MLG map. It’s unclear if this will be a game code to unlock the map, or a one time use Xbox Live style content code.
The case material is also unknown though if past Tom Clancy/Ubisoft LE releases this generation are any indication it will be nothing more than a standard case with an extra disc flap and either a plastic or cardboard slip cover. The game Is scheduled for release on March 18, 2008 with an MSRP of $69.99 (USD). No word yet on whether or not PAL regions will be getting an LE of this game.
