Wii U Official Release Details

Earlier today Nintendo announced details for their upcoming Wii U console while no CE releases have been announced yet Nintendo rarely disappoints so I’m sure many of you are interested in getting your hands on this console.

The Wii U will come in two versions, and these versions vary slightly between Japan and the rest of the world.

In Japan the Wii U will be released on December 8th and receive a “Basic” bundle for 26,250 Yen, or the Premium bundle for 31,500 Yen.

Nice to see all territories will be paying a similar price for the WiiU.
Of course I will be ordering one of these for day one. Im sure that if it bores me within a week or two I will maintain a reasonable return on it.
    :p

  2. Ryaku:
    yeah

    300$ = 210£ = 300€
    350$ = 250£ = 350€

    Good Conversion !

But don't know If Wii U will be free Zone or not...

I would guess not, Nintendo doesn't seem to like region free game

  4. comaamen86:
does look good will wait till next year though zombiu and the pro gamepad looks sweet

  5. NaughtyDogJames:
The UK prices aren't confirmed, I'd guess at £229.99 and £279.99. I'll wait till a price drop on this due as it seems a lot for something with 8gb memory and I don't want to fiddle about with SD cards and USB drives.

  6. twistedsymphony:
    I already pre-ordered mine (I was 2nd to pre-order at my store).

Based on the price differences there's no reason NOT to buy the Deluxe version... hard drive size aside it comes with a game for less than the price of the game, the hard drive is just a bonus.

if demand is high it will be worth it's weight in gold during the holiday season
if demand is mediocre and I don't like it I can probably get my money back easily enough
if demand is so low that it sits on shelves, at least it plays Wii games in HD and I don't own a Wii anymore, so it's worth that.

really you can't go wrong buying a console like this on release day.

Judging buy the fact that there was literally a line forming behind me at the store to place pre-orders, I'd say that it will probably sell very well at launch.

Where did you pre-order? Best Buy? GameStop? Just curious who is taking pre-orders in the US.

  8. twistedsymphony:
Gamestop started taking pre-orders about an hour after the announcement

  9. RyT:
    $348 basic pack
    $428 premium pack

Thanks! Saw that BestBuy.com is also taking them. Surprised that Amazon hasn't opened up the pre-orders though, at least not that I can see.

  11. Twisted:

My mistake, Nintendo has confirmed that it will NOT make Wii games look any better: http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201..._games_sharper

    what a shame.

  13. vhal_x:
Shame. Would have been awesome if they upscaled Wii games. Poor Skyward Sword xx

  14. Twisted:
apparently it is being said that amazon USA is having difficulties with nintendo of america therefore will NOT be accepting preorders or selling wii u at least for the rest of 2012

  15. Onyxia:
Preordered the Deluxe set on Gamestop.ca
Kinda sad there isn't a Zelda game for launch with this one, haha. But Skyward Sword is still somewhat recent so I guess I shouldn't ask too much!
No clue if this will sell out on launch the way the Wii did (took me ages to hunt down one), but figured I'd play it safe this time. Especially since it will be the Holiday season (Merry Christmas from me to me)!
