Drakengard 3 Collector’s Edition Available to Pre-Order in Europe – Limited to 2,000 Units

Square Enix have sought community feedback on the Drakengard 3 release plans in Europe and in response to that feedback they will be releasing a Collector’s Edition for Drakengard 3 in Europe. The Collector’s Edition will be available exclusively from the Square Enix Store (and the SE boutique for France) – The Collector’s Edition of Drakengard 3 is a very limited run with only 2,000 of them in total.

At a price of €69.99 EUR the Collector’s Edition of Drakengard 3 contains the following:

  • Clamshell Box – An eloquent display case featuring the flower that grows from Zero’s eye
  • Hardback Novella – This beautifully illustrated 160 page prequel story to Drakengard 3 (available in English language only) contains a collection of short stories written from the perspectives of each character
  • Add-on Pack – Downloadable tokens for the Ciam costume, an additional level where you play as One, Zero’s sister, and a Giant Baby Hat (yes, an enormous baby’s head for your dragon, Mikhail)
  • Music Sampler CD – A CD containing a selection of mesmerising tracks from the game’s original soundtrack, composed by Keiichi Okabe (who also created the score for Nier)
  • Double Sided Poster – A collectable double sided poster only available in the Collector’s Edition of Drakengard 3
  • The Game – While there won’t be a physical disc version of the Drakengard 3 for Europe and PAL territories, a download token will be included inside the box which you can redeem on the PlayStation Store
  • Japanese Voice DLC – Experience the game in its original audio with a download token for the original Japanese voice acting! This DLC is part of the Collector’s Edition, but will also be available for non-CE owners when you pre-order the standard digital game through the PlayStation Store (pre-orders start mid-April)

if comparing apples to apples, it costs MORE than the US version and you get LESS.

doesn't compare to actually owning a physical copy of the game.

you would have to still buy the game and get it imported over as the UK wont sell the physical copy of the game.

would prefer a physical copy to a digital copy any time but since I'm not going to open it anyway, I'm pretty fine with this run.

Saves me around $80 for shipping and taxes + gas for my trip to the customs office.

oh, never thought of that... I guess if you plan to keep it closed/sealed it really doesn't matter

I was about to buy this edition only because it was limited ( and I liked the gameplay from the trailer), but buying something that doesn't come with the " physical product " goes against my principle. I buy a physical product to physicaly have it and avoid to download it from the net.

Because, hey let's be honest, I own a 40gb PS3 and after finishing the game I will more likely have to free some space for other games, that mean deleting it from my hard drive. If in a few years Sony goes down along with it's server. well I will be left with an empty box without a game.

Or, in the worst case cenario, if I survive a zombie apocalypse along with all my belongings ( brain saying I must stop playing the last of us... you shut up brain ) well I won't be able to play this game ever again. I will have to risk my life traveling to the US in order to loot abandoned appartment an see if I can come across an US version, then travel all the way back to my safehouse where my game collection is.... nah this is too risky and bothersome. I prefer not buying the game in order to avoid putting my life in danger later in the future.

Sticking with a US copy. It is certainly good of Square to bring this edition to Europe and I suppose as there will be no physical copy here at all it wouldn't be cost effective for them to make the disc purely for this set but I personally prefer to have a disc. Seems a bit of a contradiction in terms 'collectors edition' but no physical disc included!

  11. Saturn:
Not to mention the price they're asking. And the fact that they don't ship to most countries in Europe. I'll pass.

  12. Ash:
I'd really like to get this one, even if I would later have to buy the boxed game separately.

Sadly, seems to be no way to get them to ship to Portugal.

  13. GameTrigger:
SE EU ships to Portugal and it's free:
