EA is releasing first print LE which will include "Back to Karkand" DLC "at no additional charge." The add-on includes four maps from Battlefield 2 "re-imagined with Frostbyte 2," the upcoming sequel's new engine, in addition to new Achievements/Trophies, unique rewards, and weapons from the previous title.

Another DLC tie in with the game. When will EA learn.

I'm thinking never. Oh well, at least this 'LE' will cost the same price as a regular new game.

EDIT_ Just read this part of the sourced article:

So, perhaps more will come with this LE, but I wouldn't count on it.

Don't bet on the edition including anything but DLC and on a card aswell.

If they included it on the disc then this would be different, but a card!! Come on EA think about it.

    Oh and nice find Scourdx.

Does EA just do this with the 360 versions of their LE's?

PS3 games are afforded extra space with blu-ray media, so I would be shocked if EA couldn't fit any DLC on a single BD disc. For example, the Tiger Woods 2012 CE.

  5. gurpswoo1:
No EA gives its special limited treatment to PS3 aswell,

Need for Speed hot pursuit and Dead Space 2 are just two that came with the silly card.

  6. Mandingo:
    oh wow, that's lame.

  7. gurpswoo1:
You think that's bad, there are some game of the year edition that have the normal game with new art print for the disc and case but included a card for DLC content to downloaded.
So you couldn't sell it on because the codes had been redeem already.

The last one I got was Resident evil 5 gold edition, returned straight way out of disgusts.

Yep, EA and other publishers clearly have contempt for used game sales cutting into their profits, which is probably why they do this.

It's a way to discourage consumers from buying used and opting for new

Battlefield 3 LE features the digital expansion pack Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand. This themed multiplayer expansion pack includes four legendary maps from Battlefield 2 boldly re-imagined with Frostbite 2 physics, destruction and visuals. Completing the package are classic Battlefield 2 weapons and vehicles, unique rewards, new achievements/trophies, and more.

Game UK have just listed an exclusive "Battlefield 3 Limited Edition Physical Warfare Pack" for £49.99.

Unfortunately for us, it's all digital bonuses and not an actual physical CE...

I'm tired of all these god damn DLC in my god damn games!

  14. MrBubbles:
They should be ashamed for calling this a Limited Edition. Same thing with part 2, also DLC.

  15. The Russian Bear:
I just hope the game does BF2 some justice and doesn't turn into COD to win all the COD fanboys over.

  16. flairjen:
amen to that. I did the same thing with gears of war 2 game of the year edition because it came with the extra content on a dlc card. Versions like these should be on the disc.

  17. gurpswoo1:
another DLC only release, can't wait.

  18. thefunk007:
You think there is any point/value in keeping these versions sealed?!

  19. The Russian Bear:
doubtful, the dlc will most likey have an expiry date on it as well ^^
