It was destined to happen to such a massive title. Can't see it being a European thing either, it will be distributed in all corners of the pond.
HMV are taking preorders for an exclusive O-ring edition which only appears to be an alternative slip cover for the game.
More interestingly though are some launch details with the possibility of getting your game signed.
Final Fantasy XIII Launch Event - HMV Oxford Circus plays host the launch event of Final Fantasy XIII on 9th March, 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Fans attending will be treated to a rare opportunity to meet Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the game and Isamu Kamikokuryo, the game's art director. Also the first 50 people who come dressed in Final Fantasy costumes will be given a free Final Fantasy XIII soundtrack plus everyone who attends has a chance to win goodies. Entry is free to all.
Images added, thank you
Forgot to mention that I got 2 identical decals with it. Dunno if that's the standard or if I got lucky.
I think 2 decals is the standard. I also got 2 of them.

A friend on mine ordered from here the standard edition:

...and he received it with a sealed slipcase cover different to that of HMV.

I got it as well. His order was a preoder, mine was a launch day order. I do not know if they have limited quantities.

I'm trying to track one of these CE's down. . Will it be easier to buy the Australian version? They seem to be in more plentiful supply online.
The xbox 360 version is very easy to get hold of.
The PS3 version on the other hand is harder to get hold off.
Being PAL like Euro it will be exactly the same. the only thing different will be the age certificate on the front. However don't pay over the odd's, retail price is fine as they can still be purchased from some stores.
Yea the Xbox 360 version is easier to get. I believe the multi-disc and the region lock is the factor. You can play the PAL version on NTSC-U Xbox360 which is a good thing. I would love to get my hands on the PS3 version, but the Xbox360 isn't bad as well.
To be honest the Xbox version is also a nice edition, but certain franchises will always be more popular on a certain consoles and Final Fantasy is a Playstation baby, well ever since Final Fantasy 7 anyway.
A sealed PS3 version is worth about £40-£60 GBP- These are notorious for arriving with damaged edges as the cardboard casing is thin and there is no reinforcement inside.
A sealed Xbox 360 version is worth about £20 -£30 GBP - used, sealed or mint codition doesn't seem to affect the price for some reason. Has the same issue as above but has little impact on the price.
Ah, I see. Australian version it is, then.
