Released in United Kingdom on Feb 18, 2011 at a price of £49.99
The SteelBook Edition of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is no different from the Standard Edition except that it comes in a Steel Book case.
Availability:
In the UK the SteelBook edition was only available as a pre-order bonus from Gamestation stores. Those who pre-ordered through Gamestation were automatically upgraded to the SteelBook Edition.
Over at Gamestop.com, a Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds has been listed
It cost $69.99 and has the following:
- Steelbook case featuring exclusive artwork
- Comic/Art Book - A 12-page prologue comic, written by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, as well as campaign art and a curated selection of fan art.
- 1 month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, providing unlimited online access to Marvel content.
- People who pre-order the CE from Gamestop specifically will recieve Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds console decals created by Fathead. Also, character cards with a move list and descriptions.

Exclusive DLC is something I am not fond of. I'm sure they will come out with complete version. I'm waiting to see what Capcom will offer at their exclusive store.
Only $10 above the regular edition? Bought.
I wish more companies would offer reasonably priced CE's.
Anyone know whether this is a Gamestop exclusive? The wording suggests it isn't (Gamestop exclusive decals implies it can be preordered elsewhere), but I can't find it anywhere else. If so, there's a 99.99% chance Amazon will have it, and I'd much rather order from them.

Has anyone noticed that both special editions have become scarce online? You could pre-order the PS3 and 360 special editions at Amazon and Gamestop, but now they've been taken down in the last week.
You can still pre-order at the Capcom online store, though. I'm just sayin'.
It looks like Amazon is sold out of this item, do we know if the production run on this is going to be limited? I know you guys said fighting games almost never have a price spike, but it is sold out.
I just checked gamestop and they don't even have it listed anymore...
Aye, Amazon and Gamestop both sold out, as well as Best Buy, which had this up for pre-order just days ago...
So, this might be an exception to the whole 'fighting game CE's are worthless' rule.
Capcom's online store still has them available for pre-order (with a free t-shirt, too!), but I only saw the PS3 version.
Sounds good
I recently thought about canceling my pre-order but I think there is no need of it now
I think Capcom may have under-estimated demand for these special editions.
Marvel vs Capcom has always been a popular series, just look at what sealed copies of the previous games go for these days.
Also, NA doesn't get many steelbooks, so there may have been a manufacturing bottleneck at some point. Eh.
So thanks for this information, you saved my day
Edit: wow the T-shirt is pretty nice *jealous*
Wow - thanks for the update, had no idea these were selling out.
I was with everyone else, I though being a fighting game that this would be around for a couples of weeks.
I'm wondering now it these special editions will make it to retail stores in NA. I shall see in a few days..
I'm so glad I preordered in time for the PS3. Europe doesn't even get a decent SE for MvC3. On the issue that fighting game SEs don't do that well is clearly seen on BlazBlue: CS for example. Within a month, it had dropped to 17.99 GBP on amazon.co.uk. >.<
Don't forget the Street fighter 4 and Tekken 6 limited editions. They went for less than £10 before units started to leave shelves. Especially Street Fighter.
