Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV: Special Edition for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 is released today to all major retailers Worldwide with an MSRP of about $90(US).
Listings have popped up recently for a Collector’s Edition of Namco’s upcoming and highly anticipated Soul Calibur IV. The Collector’s edition includes a Tin which includes a XL sized T-shirt, an Artbook, and a tournament card.
The release date is set at July 29th, for a rather steep price of about $80. EB Games and Gamestop are also offering a keychain as a pre-order bonus.
It’s worth noting that the T-shirt included with the Xbox 360 version will be white and feature Yoda, while the shirt included with the PS3 version will be black and feature Darth Vader.
Gamestop has finally added a listing to their website for the upcoming Fallout 3 Collector’s Edition for Xbox 360 and PS3. With it they have also released details as to what is included and it looks like it could be one of the nicer Collector’s Editions released this generation.
Included are the following:
If you’re wondering what the bobble head and lunch box might look like read the lunch box of happiness, an article Kotaku posted early last July about a preview package they received with some Fallout 3 swag. In it was a Vault Boy Bobble Head as well as a metal lunch box.
Those who put down a reservation for Metal Gear Solid 4 at Gamestop and EB Game locations in the USA and Canada between April 5th and April 10th receive this slick DVD bonus.
Inside the clear plastic keep case with metallic artwork is a copy of Metal Gear Saga Volume 2. Also in the case is a piece of paper describing instructions as to how and when you can download the Online Beta for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.
The Beta will apparently be available for download on April 17th, but it will not be playable until April 21st and it will continue until May 5th when both the download and gameplay will be taken off-line.
Personal Note: Since I don’t actually own a PS3 this code is rather useless to me, I’m debating auctioning it off to help support Collector’s Edition, though it would seem that the whole saga disc and code are only fetching about $30.
Recent additions to the Upcoming North American Release List include:
Call of Duty 4 Game of the Year Edition – released two days ago for the Xbox 360 and arriving on the 23rd of this month on the PS3, this version of the game is identical to the regular edition but includes a code that can be used on the COD4 website which will then give you a code to download the recently released map pack on either Xbox Live Market Place or the Playstation Network Store. Price wise you basically save $5 over buying the game and the maps separate.
Madden NFL 2009 20th Anniversary Collector’s Edition – the 20th Madden game released in so many years. This Edition seems steeply priced at close to $90 but it comes with 2 games, both Madden 09 and Head Coach 09, as well as a “library” of bonus videos. If past Madden “editions” are any indication this will come in a standard plastic keep case and will probably drop in value substantially only a month or two after it’s release. Available for both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 12th.
Saints Row 2 Collector’s Edition – No details have been revealed about this edition but it will run you an extra $20 over the regular edition (so it better be good). Arrives on both Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on August 26th.
While the Special Edition was announced for release in Japan a short while ago, Gamestop and EB Games produced a weekend flyer announcing that they will be taking pre-orders for a Limited Edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 in North America at a price of $84.99 a whopping $25 over the price of the regular edition game.
So what do you get for your $25? The Limited Edition comes in a metal tin, and includes a bonus Blu-Ray disc, with two making of documentaries, the first few chapters of the Metal Gear Solid Graphic novel, and the game’s Soundtrack. These are all standard fare items for a Limited Edition, meaning that the premium is mostly due to the fan fare surrounding the game more than anything else.
Those who pre-order the Limited edition will also receive an artbook, which might make the LE price pill a bit easier to swallow. However in a proverbial kick to the nuts Those who pre-order the regular edition will receive the same bonus disc that is included with the LE.
Shakeylencher wrote in to tell us that GAME has a listing for a SteelBook Edition of the upcoming Iron man game for Xbox 360 (based on the upcoming movie of the same name). The game will be released for 44.99(GBP) on May 2nd, which is surprisingly a day after the regular edition is scheduled for release.
Am I the only only who finds it interesting that “Iron” Man gets a “Steel” Book case. Even more interesting is that the game based on the Man of “Steel” (aka Superman) was released only in a wimpy plastic case.
Grim D wrote in to inform us that the release date for alone in the Dark has been pushed back nearly a month. This of course means that the release day for the Collectors edition in Europe will now not be available until June 20th. Mark your calendars accordingly.
Despite it’s name the “SteelBook Edition” of Sega’s Viking: Battle for Asgard released for Xbox 360 and PS3 exclusively though GAME stores in the UK is actually nothing more than a metal tin containing the regular edition of the game.
Thanks to shakylechner for the tip.
Amazon.com has listing for an NTSC Collector’s Edition release of Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 3. The Collector’s Edition will apparently be arriving on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
No details have been released, no features, pricing, images, or even a release date or ESRB rating. We can likely assume, however, that the Collector’s Edition will release along side the regular edition on October 7th of this year.
We’ll post more details when we get them.
