February 6th, 2008 Michael Pica

Information has popped up on Amazon.com as well as Gamestop.com about a Limited Edition release of Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. This NTSC release is poised to include:

  • Collectible Poker Chip Key Chain

Both Amazon and Gamestop have different cover art and it’s unknown which (if any) are the final box art. Though, my money is on the Amazon art (right).

Pre-orders though EB and Gamestop will also receive a code to unlock the Comcast Optimized MLG map. It’s unclear if this will be a game code to unlock the map, or a one time use Xbox Live style content code.

The case material is also unknown though if past Tom Clancy/Ubisoft LE releases this generation are any indication it will be nothing more than a standard case with an extra disc flap and either a plastic or cardboard slip cover. The game Is scheduled for release on March 18, 2008 with an MSRP of $69.99 (USD). No word yet on whether or not PAL regions will be getting an LE of this game.

PAL versions of Devil May Cry 4 are ‘Not So’ Special

January 23rd, 2008 Michael Pica

Recent online retailer listings in Europe and Australia have details listed for the upcoming release of Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition. Unlike the fully loaded NTSC release the PAL region release will offer steel book packing and a “signed” (likely by a printer) Art Book. The NTSC version is slated to include a larger tin case, as well as the first disc of the Devil May Cry animated series and a soundtrack disc in addition to other goodies.

Turning Point: Fall of Liberty to get Collector’s Edition

January 21st, 2008 Michael Pica

While it’s unclear when or if an official announcement was made, what is clear is that most major game retailers are now listing a Collector’s Edition for Turning Point: Fall of Liberty, Codemaster’s alternative history WWII era Shooter. While the Game is scheduled for release on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC it would seem that the Xbox 360 version is the only one that will be getting the CE Treatment.

Scheduled for release on February 26th this CE seems to be retailing for $65, which is surprising since that’s $5 less than one you’d normally expect to see a CE list for. Unconfirmed but supposedly included with the package is a “steel book” case (similar to Jericho, Perfect Dark Zero, and others), a Making of Game DVD, Sound track as well as an Alternate History Timeline poster and a Concept Art Book.

While Turning Point certainly isn’t the franchise on every gamer’s mind this February for an extra $5 the CE looks well worth a purchase if you were planning on picking this up anyway.

Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition gets Signed

January 18th, 2008 Michael Pica

Capcom has announced that 200 copies of the Devil May Cry 4 Collector’s Edition have been hand signed by DMC4 producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi (also producer of Resident Evil 4) himself. Not satisfied with the amount of extra goodies packed in with the upcoming Collector’s Edition they pulled 100 copies of the Xbox 360 version and 100 copies of the PS3 version to be signed resealed and randomly redistributed among the games going out for sale “Golden Ticket” style.

The signature appears in silver marker on the back of the case over Dante’s Shoulder with Kobayashi-san’s name written in Roman-ji (Japanese words with “Roman”/English style lettering). The placement of the signature was chosen because it will be hidden by the slipcover that goes over the case. This way no one will know which games have been signed until the seal is broken and the slip cover is removed.

Hello world!

January 18th, 2008 Michael Pica

Welcome to CollectorsEdition.org!

My name is TwistedSymphony, but you may refer to me as TS. I’m a collector of sorts. I’ve always been enamored with collecting things. I’ve also always had a strong love for console games. Combined I’ve begun to grow my collection of “Special”, “Limited”, “Collector’s”, and other “Edition” games. Basically any non-standard version of a console game released with the word “Edition” in the title is of interest to me.

This is not a blog, but I hope to grow this site into the foremost resource on the subject of Collector’s Edition games, delivering in-depth info on the various Editions that have been released in the past and providing news on the various Editions that are scheduled to be released in the future.

I will start with my own collection of games which are mostly games from the Xbox brand consoles in the NTSC region; providing pictures and information. I hope to grow this site beyond myself so if this is a topic that interests you and you’re from another region of the world, or collect games from another brand of consoles, and are willing to help out: please let me know. I’d love to hear from you. Similarly if you find any of the information provided here to be incomplete or incorrect, let me know. Ensuring that the information here is complete and correct is of the utmost importance to me.

Thanks for stopping by, sit back, and enjoy your stay.
