Kotaku reports that when viewing the posters included with the Bioshock 2 SE with a black light hidden messages appear.
A 2K forum poster holding a random blacklight session with his friends discovered scrawled secret messages on the three BioShock 2 posters that were packed in his special edition. Creepy!
As proof, another 2K forum-goer posted these images, along with a video that can be found at PhotoBucket.
IGN just posted up some footage from Alan Wake, while not uncommon to see pre-release footage, the interesting thing here is it’s from the bonus content that will be included with the Limited Edition.
Recently Gamestop updated their listing for the US release of Heavy Rain stating that the Pre-Order bonus code to download first chapter of the Heavy Rain Chronicles, The Taxidermist would be delayed.
Due to a delay by the publisher, this content will not be available for download until Thursday, March 4, 2010.
Its not clear if the content codes will still be distributed normally but not be available for download until a later date, or if buyers will have to go back to the store to pick them up after the fact.
According to an article on VG247, this delay does not effect European gamers who purchase the Collector’s Edition though HMV.
“Anyone who has pre-ordered, or buys the special edition from HMV, will be able to download it from day one as promised,” a Sony rep told us.
“Other European territories gave the first Chronicle away via other means, and they will also get it day one.”
For anyone who hasn’t pre-ordered or won’t be getting the special edition, a date for the public PSN release of Chronicles’ initial episode is yet to be decided.
It’s the Bioshock 1 Big Daddy situation all over again. Apparently quite a few facehuggers figurines included with the just released AvP arrived with their tails broken off. Thankfully Sega has been quick to initiate a replacement program.
This page is for AvP Hunter’s Pack customers in the North American region only.
It has come to our attention that some of the exclusive Facehugger models included in the Aliens Vs Predator Hunter Edition have suffered damage in transit to North American retail.
We apologize for any inconvenience and are happy to provide replacements for any customers who received damaged products. Please fill out the following information so we can confirm your purchase. We will then contact you via email with instructions on how to receive a replacement Facehugger collectable.
I picked up my copy yesterday but I haven’t yet had a chance to unbox it.
Anyone in the CEo community end up with a fragile face hugger?
A lot of people are looking forward to the upcoming Alien vs. Predator game. A lot of collector’s are looking forward to the Hunter Edition which includes don’t only a model facehugger, but also four exclusive multiplayer maps.
Well maybe not so exclusive… vg247 reported earlier this week that the exclusive maps would be released to the public “soon after release”, no price for the maps has been announced.
In the excerpts from the article Tim Jones goes on about the importance of the Special Edition to the fans of the IP.
How special the timed exclusivity of the mutiplayer maps actually is will remain to be seen.
Earlier this week Capcom announced the last 2 new characters that will round out the roster on the upcoming Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition: Rebecca Chambers and Barry Burton.
These characters will be playable on the revamped Mercenaries “Reunion” mode. So far the Reunion mode roster is slated to include the following characters:
In addition to the revamped Mercinaries mode the Gold Edition will also include two new episodes for the single player campaign and new costumes.
The Xbox 360 release will include a regular game disc with DLC content codes to download the new content, while the PS3 version will include the new content on the disc. Those who already own Resident Evil 5 will be able to purchase the new content though the Xbox Live Marketplace, or the Playstation Store.
So far we’ve seen “Super Elite” Xbox 360 bundles for Modern Warfare 2 in North America, For Forza Motorsports 2, and Resident Evil 5 in Europe and Australia. Now Microsoft will be releasing a Final Fantasy XIII Super Elite bundle for the US.
For those of you who don’t know the only real difference between a normal Elite and a Super Elite is the inclusion of a 250GB Hard Drive as well as a second wireless controller (why you would need a second controller for Final Fantasy is beyond me).
Europe will receive a similar bundle available as either a regular elite with a 120GB hard drive or a super elite with a 250GB hard drive and extra controller.
In the Past Super Elites have also come with a special case decoration of some sort, the Modern Warfare bundle had some fancy case decoration, and the Resident Evil bundle came in a fire-engine red case. the Final Fantasy XIII SE will sadly only come in the plane vanilla white and a faceplate (which will be for sale separately anyway)
At least the PS3 FFXIII bundle in Japan came with fancy FFXIII themed graphics. The Xbox 360 bundle will only be available in the US and Europe, it will release alongside the game on March 9th at a price of $399.
Those of you who recently picked up BioShock 2 Special Edition probably realize how important the Soundtrack is in making that particular CE what it is. I mean it’s the only CE I know of that includes an actual Vinyl LP, a piece of bonus content that defined the shape of the box. It also came with a copy on CD, and beyond that the only thing that made the Special Edition Special was the inclusion of a hard bound art-book.
Not content with making the soundtrack Exclusive to SE owners 2K games has made the Bioshock Soundtrack available for download in iTunes.
the Soundtrack can be purchased in 2 flavors:
STANDARD EDITION:
DELUXE EDITION:
Release of the above soundtracks coincided with the release of the Special Edition (really? not even a delayed release?) And for those who pay attention you could have been streaming it live though Rapture Radio since before release. Obviously a digital copy doesn’t hold the same Collector’s Pride that owning the sound track on vinyl does, but seriously, how many of you actually own a turn-table? …and no having one in some dusty storage box somewhere doesn’t count.
Just yesterday Remedy Games released details of an upcoming Limited Collector’s Edition for the Xbox 360 exclusive Alan Wake.
