European Exclusive CE for A Crack in Time

October 8th, 2009 Michael Pica

Reported by Gemini-Phoenix:

Europe are due an Exclusive version of the new Ratchet & Clank game:

Rachet and Clank A Crack in Time European Exclusive Collector's Edition

Looks to me to be a DigiPak affair with a holographic lenticular cover, with artwork book and digital download voucher (Seems to be the staple CE throw-in these days whilst actually being worth fuck all to most collector’s)

According to this site:

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/…0%99s-edition/

The Collector’s Edition is available in the following countries in the listed stores. Please note that this isn’t all of the countries it will be available in, as some details regarding who will be taking the Collector’s Edition are still TBC.

  • UK – GAME exclusive
  • France – Available everywhere
  • Spain – Available everywhere
  • Italy – Available everywhere
  • Australia – TBC
  • New Zealand – EB Games
  • Belguim – Game Mania, Smartoys (CLD), PlayerOne (BEMS), Consoles Fan (Horelec), Multimedia Partner (MMS), IPG (gameshop), Supra Center, Media Markt
  • Holland – Bart Smit, Intertoys, Dexcom, Rigu, Bol.com, Consoleshop.nl, Toys XL
  • Norway – GameStop & Elkjøp
  • Sweden – GameStop & Siba, Media Markt, CDON, Webhallen, Nextstop, Discshop
  • Denmark – GameStop & Others TBC
  • Finland – Available everywhere

So seems it’s exclusive to Europe, but not any particular retailer, with France, Spain, Italy, and Finland having it available literally everywhere!

The important one though is the UK version, which as usual will be a GAME exclusive

There’s also a video on this site as well!

Modern Warfare 2 Veteran Edition

September 24th, 2009 Michael Pica

I got an email recently with the following:

I work on Modern Warfare 2, and am also a personal fan of the site (as I’m a CE heavy user).  Not sure if you saw but we added a 4TH flavor of Modern Warfare 2…the Veteran statue.  Tons of work went into this bad boy and we worked with the top collectible manufacturer in the industry, Kotobukiya,
to make it.  Sold as a bundle in the UK, or standlone statue here:

http://www.amazon.com/Call-Duty-Warfare-Not-Machine-Specific/dp/B002NWK71U

Extremely limited quantities so even I’ll be lucky to get one.

Exclusive to GAME store in the UK the Veteran edition includes the SteelBook Hardened Edtion as well as the following

  • Unique Gift Box Packaging
  • “Captain Soap MacTavish” ultra-premium ARTFX Statue sculpted by Kotobukiya

    • Depicts Modern Warfare veteran Cpt. “Soap” MacTavish of Task Force 141, equipped with custom snow camouflage and weaponry as seen in “Cliffhanger” mission from Modern Warfare 2
  • 3 sets of interchangeable weapons and arms, including: Dual ice-climbing pickaxes (pictured) Dual .45 caliber pistols, M14 Enhanced Battle Rifle (affixes to Soap’s back when not in use)
  • Environmental ice base stores alternate weapons when not in use

The Veteran Edition will run you £119.99 and be released along the other versions of the game. In the US the closes you will be able to get to this is to buy the Statue alone for $79.99.

Pictures and Final Details of Batman Arkham Asylum.

Batman Arkham Asylum Collectors Edition Xbox 360 NTSC

I’ve been reading a lot of SpeedHunter’s lately, also Kotaku has quickly become my favorite resource for gaming news. I really like the photo-blog style of Speed Hunters and the down to earth commentary on Kotaku. With that in mind I decided to add a little more flare here and there to the photos for this release and I’ve added a bit of personal commentary.

I’d appreciate some feedback as to whether this is something you’d like to see more of in the future or if you’d prefer the more no-nonsense approach that I’ve taken in the past.

3 Flavors of Modern Warfare

July 20th, 2009 Michael Pica

Most of you probably know at this point, but for those of you who haven’t Activision’s upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will come in 3 different trims.

Regular Edition: The game in a plastic case, you know the drill. Retails in the US for the standard $60 but European buyer are stuffed paying a hefty £55.

Hardened Edition: Taking it’s name from the 2nd to hardest difficulty setting in the game, this version comes in a SteelBook case a hardbound art book titled “Behind The Lines” and a code to download the original 2003 game Call Of Duty from whatever online marketplace your console uses. Setting US gamers back $80 and £70 for those in Europe

Prestige Edition: Taking it’s name from the multiplayer ranking system of the previous modern warfare game, this edition includes everything that’s in the Hardened Edition but comes in a larger cardboard box with a set of functional Night Vision Goggles capable of seeing up ot 50ft in the dark, as well as a mannequin head stand to hold them.  This at about $150 for US gamers and £120 for European gamers.

All 3 editions will arrive on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in the US and across Europe on November 10th.

Forza Motorsport 3 Limited Collector’s Edition Details Unveiled

June 19th, 2009 Michael Pica

Kotaku is reporting on recently released details about the upcoming Limited Collector’s Edition of Forza Motorsport 3:

Forza 3 will cost you $60. But the Forza 3 Limited Edition will cost you $80. What’s jacking the price up by $20 get you? It doesn’t look like it gets you much at all.

Those parting with the extra cash will receive:

  • a 2GB USB drive and a keychain, both “specially branded” (ie they’ve got the Forza logo on them)
  • “Forza Motorsport VIP Membership”, which will “entitle gamers to special treatment at the game’s auction house, community storefront, and on the game’s official forums.”
  • 5 cars, “available only through your VIP membership”
  • “Exclusive Collector’s Edition Car Pack”, which is five cars that have been “hand tuned and hand painted by the developers at Turn 10”
  • A Forza 3 dashboard theme.

So a couple of cheap trinkets, vague community perks and some in-game cars is worth $20 now? What a world we live in.

Forza 3 Box ArtSo far it has only been reported for North America and looking at the listing on GameStop’s website they seem to be claiming that they will be the exclusive re-seller for this edition. Also interesting is that they will have a pre-order bonus of an additional downloadable car, the Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro. For both brick & mortar and online shoppers pre-ordering any edition of the game.

As of now the game is priced at about $80 and scheduled for released October 27th this year. While Kotaku doesn’t seem to happy with the package’s contence  I for one will be pleased as long as the case is of high quality, additional in-game content is always a sweet addition to any CE. I’m just happy that they’re going to give the US a Forza CE this time around since we all had to import it last time.

Modern Warfare 2 to get Collector’s Edition

May 11th, 2009 Michael Pica

Mysteriously vague listings have popped up for a Collector’s Edition release of the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Gamestop.com lists the CE version for Xbox 360, Playstation3, and PC while Amazon currently has a listing for just the Xbox 360. These all have a release date of November 10th this year and a price tag of about $80.

Here’s hoping this time around the CE packaging of a COD game will live up to the stardard of quality as the game itself, I’m not holding my breath though.
