earlier this week I picked up Star Wars Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition (mostly because I saw it on the shelf and realized it was a Steel Book release) and I also picked up a weird rare AC/DC Rockband Expansion pack Bundle that came with a tour DVD and a T-shirt (Walmart Exclusive apparently)

then of course last week I picked up Bioshock 2 and Dante's Inferno as well as Raiden IV limited edition

I havne't had a chance to unbox or photograph any of them.. I've been so busy.

Halo series died before it started. Halo 1 was great it stuck to the book like peanutbutter to bread. Then that pos Halo 2 came along and the series died, now Halo reach has nothing to do with the book or the overall war in the story. It doesn't make sense seeing as how reach is a prequel and everything is better in it than the 1st halo. Plus there were only 3 graduating spartan classes at the time of reach, so this "reach" story line doesn't deserve to even be called Halo.

I think am going to have to start a side business up, with the focus being on games for Collector's. It's the only way to increase my collections and not losing huge amounts of money.

That's a shame. School these day are a big ripoff. It takes about 10 years before you start to see a payback. I took 2 years technical school and then work for 4 years. Afterward those 4 years work pay way for my degree. When I am out of school, I am practically debt free.

Anyways I picked up GOW 3 Ultimate Edition from Craigslist for $49. It came with skin DLC, but not the soundtrack & video. That didn't matter because I did download the soundtrack from the internet. :D

Got Halo: Reach Legendary ed. on it's way in the mail and Dead Rising 2 Zombrex Edition preordered. Also bought the PAL version of Metroid Prime Collector's Edition, which is probably the most basic CE I've ever bought. Basically just a fancy slipcase with an extra piece of glossed paper detailing the storyline.

WHAT - Had no idea they did steelbooks in the US, just ordered 3 from Amazon to send to Borderlinx. $17 each. Can't go wrong with that. I,ve got the 2 x Dead rising high stakes edition and now thanks to this thread metriod prime trilogy steelbook on order too to bring the shipping cost down.

If anyone in the UK wants anything from the USA let me know because I will be bringing it down in one big lot. have until the 3 OCT free storage before I have to ship to the UK.

The paper box is fragile. I wonder why Midway choose cardboard instead of metal case. This makes the standard edition looks better.

Agree. There are few others CE use cheap cardboard box and lack of content to merit the extra $10-30 increase. Game such as Two World, Oblivion & Prince of Persia are few example.

Picked up my Fable 3 Collectors Edition at midnight. I'm impressed the book cover is really well done and the coin is actually heavy and metal. Wish they could have done something better than just a standard black box for the actual game though.

^I always hate when the use a black box for the CE... if you're not going to give us a SteelBook or a special digi-pak or something then at least use the standard green case.

I picked up Fable III CE, Star Wars Force Unleashed 2, and the Rockband 3 Keyboard bundle $265 in a day ... damn this is an expensive hobby

I'll get some good play time out of RB3 as I love that series, Fable is my wife's favorite so she'll get some good use out of that one, but Star Wars will probably just sit on my shelf until the end of time :lol:

Wish you hadn't totaled everything up Twisted cause it made me think of what I had spent. I had already pre-ordered everything before and paid it off so I only paid for the collector's guide. I picked up Fable 3 collectors edition, Fable 3 standard edition so me and my girl can play co-op, Star wars limited edition, The Sims for my girl, and CSI-Fatal Conspiracy cause I've 1k'd the other 2 and it was only $30. Also picked up the collector's guide for $31.50. Total of $331.50 before taxes O_O And to think one of the Fables and the sims will never touch my Xbox, but they will go on my shelves for my collection :D

Yeah, being Fable I would expect there to be alot of these. It's a really cool CE. The book part was well made, and the compartments look cool. Not alot of stuff with it but I like the make and look of it.

The PAL CE contains the Metal-Mask, as you can see, 2 Game Discs (X360) and the Soundtrack.

But I´m missing an artbook. :/

Man, I'm looking into starting a collection but I don't know how you guys can resist keeping them sealed. I got a couple of collector's and just couldn't wait to open it.. but then I leave it alone after the suspense is gone lol..

Many of us decide to purchase 2 copies and only open a play one, this is ofcourse for certain releases.

I have plenty of Collector's games which are not sealed aswell and I'm perfectly happy with them.

Having them sealed ensure they hold their ultimate value, however it not always essential depending on the game itself.

Certain games will never be worth much in the future, to some collectors a perfect sealed copy is a must, for others it's having the game itself which is most important.

In fact we should have a poll in what the collector's on the forum think

I don't know about the others, but I only have a few titles that I have for duplicate for that I intend to sell in the future. Most of my games are for collection only.

Determining the value of a game is difficult, some are easy such as those that is restricted in numbers such as Dead Space Ultra edition, Metal gear solid 4 edition,etc.

Others become cult classic and don't sell a huge amount, these can vary in value but always hold their value and increase over time.

The opposite is also true, a game can be super popular and therefore very few were left factory sealed.

Certain genres tend to increase value more than others, RPG is certainly one that seem to best, Shooters don't seem to hold their value as well unless again it is a limited release. Stay away from sports game unless unique such as Super Mario soccer instead of Fifa 1x.

In fact all special edition release by Nintendo will at least hold its value while other game franchise will shoot up, e.g Zelda, Mario Platform game, Donkey Kong and Kirby. These are sure thing as they have a great and loyal following. Plus the games are decent most of the time.

Certain franchise are also a good bet, Final Fantasy, Metal gear solid, Mega man, tales of, etc. Again loyal following. They are becoming a little long in tooth and are diluting the franchise so it may not be true in the future.


Stay away from any game franchise that has a release every 12-18 months, these will fall through the floor, again except for limited releases.

A single game release with no sequel is also a good bet, especially if the developer never makes another game.

It really is difficult to determine these, but as I said before. I collect the games for the purpose of collecting and not for the intention of selling on. It will take some time for the games increase in value anyway.

So put on the shelf for me.

I do. Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, and Walmart in my area were sold out. Amazon.com has none in stock and neither does Gamestop.com.

Even if I'm not able to sell them I have a receipt for each one that allows me to return for a full refund before January 15th. I bought 10 PS2s that turned me a nice profit back in Christmas 2000, and 6 PS3s back in 2006 that turned me a huge profit. I don't expect the same amount of return but I do expect this to be the item for the holiday season in the states which still make me some money.

Japan version received the Limited edition while N. America got a bundle edition. This edition is the same as Goldeneye Collector edition where Goldeneye got Golden classic controller and Monster Hunter Tri got regular black classic controller.

Well if I want to import from other region, PS3 will be my logical choice. Also certain PS3 game contain more exclusive content and you don't have to swap disc. Although certain game perform better on Xbox360. Black Ops for instance frame rate perform better on Xbox360.

Fragile Dreams, Rune factory, Super mario galaxy, Paper mario and new super mario bros I got for free because of my reward points on my credit card. They were ending the service so decided to get vouchers for amazon and got these.

Hmm, the thing is, the two US CE´s are very "spacial" in germany, particularly the Gamestop version. But the content from the codex Ed. is much more beautifully.

Great purchase :) I got the US and the codex too but the Steelbook of the Special Edition is also very nice :) Got it a few weeks ago.

It's the Asia Limited Edition...especially for the whole Assassin's Creed Series are too much different Editions on the market.

Yes- although plastic in nature it's a cool feature of the case and it does reflect quite alot when you shine aliight on it.

Why couldn't they delay the limited edition like they did with Castlevania LOS and release a proper limited edition that was promised.

It is. I got it from Boxing day sales which is equivalent to Black Friday sales in US. I wouldn't picked it up if it weren't for that price.

Not as popular as the original. The second version requires paid DLC for extra characters. A lot of fans aren't happy about it.

Wow! Did you send it out for grading yourself? I have been collecting Gi Joe for some years, but grading was wat to expensive for me because I live in Europe.
Wonder what it would cost for a game like this.

This is my first graded game, I purchased it from someone in the USA and had him send it to VGA to save shipping cost to both of us.

I haven't seen a graded copy one eBay yet so don't know how much they go for, but your right the grading process is not cheap.

95/100? Very nice pickup there.

I had a great time there. Have seen alot of gameshops (most of them were Gamestops, almost on every corner.) Didn't have more room in my suitcase. Even had to leave some old clothes (bought alot new clothes) to get everything in there lol.

6500 Stores is crazy lol. I believe they also bought some "Free Record Shops" (cd's and dvd's and some games) in Norway or Sweden.
Wonder if they will get some stores in Holland, they sometimes have great exclusives.

DaSaru is the USA version any good, thinking abut getting one to add to my UK collector's edition version.If you have the Castlevania UK version with the mask, you don't need the US version. The US version is kinda the same but without the mask. The Japanese one has the mask and an expanded artbook.

Yeah. The repackage it to add the French manual. Most of the time, they are bulkier than the American version.
